Women's Lacrosse Set to Host Adrian in Final Game of Three-Game Homestand

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The Gray Wolves return to Wildcat Stadium for their third straight home appearance. After back-to-back victories to open the season, Lourdes has dropped its first two contests a friendly confines.

Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her second season on the Lourdes bench, Alyssa Shaver has an 10-9 (.526) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach.  She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: The two teams will meet for the first time in program history on Wednesday evening.

Wrapping Up Last Week: After back-to-back victories to open the 2019 campaign, Lourdes fell in its two home contests last week. The Gray Wolves were upended 22-3 by Walsh before dropping a 17-4 decision to Marian. Tiara Reed led the way for Lourdes offensively, netting four goals. Jacque Pappadakes started her third and fourth straight games in the net and notched a career-high 11 saves in the loss to Marian.

Scouting Adrian: Adrian will play its first contest of the season on Wednesday when it meets the Gray Wolves. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 2-13 season in 2018. After four straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference titles from 2011-2014, Adrian hasn't finished higher than tied for fourth in the conference standings. Of the 22 athletes listed on this season's roster, 13 will see their first collegiate action on Wednesday. Gwyneth Carlson, the team's leader with 28 goals last season, returns as a sophomore in 2019. Annie Rice, who was tied for the third most goals (19) last season, will also return for Adrian. The Bulldogs will feature a familiar presence in the goal, as Hannah Emerson returns after starting all 15 games for the Bulldogs last season. 

Enjoying Friendly Confines: The Gray Wolves will play the third of their current three-game homestand on Wednesday against Adrian. Following the contest against the Bulldogs, Lourdes will play four straight road contests before returning home on Mar. 23 when it kicks off Wolverine-Hooser Athletic Conference play against Rochester (Mich.).

Playing NCAA Division III Schools: Lourdes has a brief history of playing NCAA Division III-foes in its first five years as a program. The Gray Wolves own a 3-2 record against NCAA Division III opponents. Lourdes has met Alma, Baldwin Wallace, Heidelberg, Oberlin, and Ohio Northern in matchups against NCAA III competitors.

Approaching 100 Career Goals: Tiara Reed has scored 15 times already this season, giving her 95 for her career just four games into her junior season.  Her tally total thus far this year is tied for the third most of any NAIA player. Reed  currently ranks second in all three major career offensive categories (goals, assists and points).

Making An Early Impact: Bella D'Arcy has made a quick impact for Lourdes in her rookie campaign. The freshman midfielder leads the team, and is tied for second in the WHAC, with seven ground balls this season. D'Arcy also ranks second on the team with six goals through the first four games of her career.

A Second Half Team: Lourdes has proven to be a second half team thus far this season. The Gray Wolves are tied with their opponents in goals scored in the second half (21-21), but lead their counterparts in the second half in shots (65-47) and shots on goal (47-39). 

An Early Start To The Season: The Gray Wolves will have played five total games prior to the calendar turning to March to open the 2019 season. Lourdes had played a total of four February games during their first five years as a program, including three February contests in 2018.

This and That: Anna Zofchak ranks fifth in program history with 51 games played while Brianna Budd ranks sixth having appeared in 50 contests ... Zofchak and Budd rank fourth and fifth all-time in starts with 50 and 49 respectively ... Pappadakes ranks fourth all-time at Lourdes with 33 career saves ... the Gray Wolves are 7-13 all-time at Wildcat Stadium ... Lourdes is 13-13 all-time against opponents when meeting them for the first time.
