Lourdes welcomes Concordia to the Ebeid Rec Center for an 8 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday evening before hosting UNOH in a pivotal Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Head Coach John Kenger: First-year head coach
John Kenger will guide the Gray Wolf bench this season. Kenger owns a 9-16 (.360) record with the Gray Wolves. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 48-70 (.407) record in four seasons. He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 2-13 all-time in the series against Concordia. The Gray Wolves defeated the Cardinals 69-61 on January 9, 2019 for the first time since the 2014-15 season. The Gray Wolves are looking to sweep the Cardinals for the first time in program history in the regular season. Lourdes is 3-12 all-time against UNOH, including a 92-70 setback earlier this season. In the last four matchups, the series is tied 2-2.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves are looking to get back on track this week after dropping three straight contests. Lawrence Tech upended Lourdes on Saturday afternoon in Southfield, Mich. before nationally-ranked Siena Heights closed Monday evening's contest on a 16-2 run to pull away from Lourdes late.
Scouting Concordia: The Cardinals enter the week fresh off of a 76-52 victory over UNOH on Monday evening. Concordia currently sits one-half game behind Lourdes for the eighth and final spot in the WHAC tournament entering Wednesday's contest. Katie Snow leads the team and ranks second in the WHAC, averaging 16.4 points per game. Snow also leads the team with 6.5 rebounds per outing. Defensively, Snow leads team WHAC with 2.92 steals per game.
Scouting UNOH: UNOH enters the week holding a one-game lead over Lourdes for the seventh seed in the WHAC Tournament after falling to Concordia on Monday evening. Emily Patton leads the team and ranks fourth in the WHAC, tallying 14.5 points per game. Fataya Larry enters the week leading the conference with 10.5 rebounds per contest. Larry is the only athlete in the league averaging double-figure rebounds. Brooke Fielder has been a presence defensively, leading the team, and ranking second in the WHAC with 37 blocks.
Race For The WHAC Tournament: Lourdes currently holds a half-game lead over Concordia for the eighth and final spot in the upcoming WHAC Tournament. The Gray Wolves trail UNOH by a game for the seventh seed in the standings. Only four games separate the final five teams in the race for the final two seeds in the tournament.
Celebrating Title IX: In the matchup against Concordia on Wednesday evening, the Gray Wolves will celebrate Title IX in athletics by playing the 8 p.m. nightcap contest. Wednesday is also National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
Home Sweet Home: Lourdes will enjoy the comfort of the Ebeid Recreation Center for four of their final five games in the regular season. The Gray Wolves will host Concordia and UNOH before traveling to Indiana Tech for their final regular season road contest of the season. Lourdes will then tip-off its final regular season home contest on Senior Day against Madonna.
Keeping Pace In The WHAC: Despite missing multiple games with an injury,
Christiana Jefferson currently leads the team and is fifth in the WHAC, handing out 3.67 assists per contest. The senior is on pace to lead the team in assists and assists per contest for the second straight season. Jefferson also leads the league and ranks 14th nationally with an impressive 2.57 assist to turnover ratio.
Looking For The Sweep: After already sweeping Cornerstone, Wright State-Lake, and Great Lakes Christian this season, Lourdes is looking to sweep Concordia for the first time in program history.
Finding An Offensive Rhythm: During the Gray Wolves current three-game skid, they have failed to score 50 points in each game. In their nine victories this season, Lourdes is averaging an impressive 80.3 points per contest.
Getting Back On Track: After a string of four games that she didn't score in double figures,
Sydney Miller has hit the double digit mark in the scoring column in three of the last four games for Lourdes. She currently leads the team with 9.3 points per game.
