Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The Gray Wolves wrap up a short two-game road trip on Saturday afternoon when they meet Madonna at the Madonna Athletic Complex. The Gray Wolves will play their sixth road game in the last seven games on Saturday.
Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Alyssa Shaver has a 12-14 (.462) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach. Â She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is a perfect 3-0 all-time against Madonna in the series that began on April 11, 2018. The Gray Wolves have outscored the Crusaders 60-26 in the series.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play last week with a pair of contests against Rochester (Mich.) and No. 10-ranked Lawrence Tech. Lourdes picked up a 22-1 victory over the Warriors before dropping a 17-4 decision against the Blue Devils.Â
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter Saturday's matchup riding a three-game skid after falling on the road at No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening. Through seven games this season Christy Battersby leads the team with 21 goals and 23 points. Brittney Leist has tallied 19 goals for Madonna this season. Dana Honey and Emily Daly are currently tied for first on the squad with 22 ground balls, while Honey owns a team-best 37 draw controls. Defensively, Daly leads the team with 14 caused turnovers. Marrisa West and Eloise Wilber have split in the cage with Wilber handling the majority of the minutes. Wilber has stopped 42 goals and sports a .365 save percentage.Â
Life On The Road: Through 11 games this season, the Gray Wolves have spent just four of those games at the friendly confines. Lourdes will wrap up a two-game road trip against Madonna on Saturday. That contest will mark the sixth road trip in the last seven games for the Gray Wolves.
A Solid Offensive Threat: Tiara Reed has proven to be an asset for Lourdes offensively. The midfielder currently leads the team in goals (29), points (37), assists (8), grounds balls (21) and draw controls (49). Reed ranks in the top five in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in four of the five categories. She also ranks first in the conference in draw controls and game-winning goals.
100 Career Goals: During their spring break trip,
Tiara Reed became just the second player in program history to reach the 100-goal plateau. Reed currently has 109 career goals and ranks second all-time at Lourdes in goals scored.
A Top-Two Performance: Lourdes' 22-1 victory over Rochester was one of the best offensive outings in the programs history. The 22 goals scored in the contest is tied for the second-most goals scored in a single game for the Gray Wolves. Lourdes scored 23 goals a season ago against Cleary.
A Balanced Offense: Although
Tiara Reed has been the leader offensively, the Gray Wolves have had a number of athletes contribute significantly for the offense.
Ashley Hunt (17),
Bella D'Arcy (16), and
Hannah Merrick (12) have all scored double-digit goals for Lourdes.Â
The Face Of The Defense: Jacque Pappadakes has been a feature for the Gray Wolf defense during her rookie season. The freshman has started all 11 games for Lourdes and her 92 saves in the cage is currently the fifth-best single season mark in program history.
In The Record Book:
Tiara Reed continues to etch her name in the Gray Wolf record book this season. Her 49 draw controls this season is currently the second-best single season mark at Lourdes and is just two shy of tying the record of 51 set in 2018 by former Lourdes standout
Alyssa Long. She also ranks third all-time with 82 career draw controls.
