Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The Gray Wolves will wrap up a two-game homestand on Wednesday as it hosts No. 9-ranked Concordia at Wildcat Stadium. Lourdes will then play two games of a three-game road trip as it travels to Bethel on Saturday afternoon and Cleary on Monday evening.Â
Head Coach Alyssa Shaver: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Alyssa Shaver has a 14-14 (.500) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as well as a collegiate head coach. Â She is just the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is a perfect 3-0 all-time against Concordia in a series that began on March 25, 2017. Lourdes has outscored the Cardinals 48-9 in their three meetings. Lourdes is also undefeated against Bethel, winning the lone matchup in 2018. In the first ever meeting between the schools, Lourdes picked up a 23-3 victory over the Pilots. Lourdes is also 1-0 all-time against Cleary entering the matchup after defeating the Cougars 22-10 on February 4, 2018.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes continued its winning ways last week, picking up a 16-5 triumph over Aquinas for its second straight victory.Â
Scouting Concordia: The Cardinals have won two of their last three contests entering Wednesday's matchup at Wildcat Stadium. Through 11 games for Concordia, Cassandra Allard leads the offense with 31 goals and is tied with Greyson Papp for first place on the squad with seven assists. Abbey Turner (27 goals), Papp (23 goals) and Kourtney Kraftchick (20 goals) have all also notched 20 or more goals this season. Papp currently leads the WHAC with 44 ground balls. In the cage for the Cardinals, Amanda Archer has started and played all 11 games. Archer has stopped 80 shots and owns an 8.84 goals against average.
Scouting Bethel: Bethel is currently on a four-game skid entering the week. The Pilots will host Lawrence Tech on Wednesday evening prior to their matchup against the Gray Wolves on Saturday. Grace McCarthy leads the team with 13 goals while Allison Coffeen is second with 12 goals. Kayla Maike owns a team-leading five assists. McCarthy currently leads the team with 38 draw controls while Hope VanProyen leads the Pilots with 31 ground balls. Brianna Barnett has occupied all of the time in the goal for the Pilots. She sports a 14.20 goals against average and has 97 saves this season.
Scouting Cleary: The Cougars are on a three-game skid entering the week and will travel to Adrian and Siena Heights prior to meeting the Gray Wolves. Jordan Bloch has a team-high 47 goals and also has five assists for 52 points this season. Karly Rolls currently leads the offense, assisting on 12 goals this season. Bloch's 39 ground balls lead the team while Isabel Carr paces the Cougars with 56 draw controls. Abby Coyne and Brooke Thomas have split time in the cage, with Coyne handling the majority of the duties. Coyne has 86 saves and sports a 15.21 goals against average.
Earning WHAC Honors: Jacque Pappadakes became the first Gray Wolf to garner Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference honors this season as she was named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week last week. The Gray Wolf freshman stopped eight of the 13 shots she faced in goal for a .615 save percentage as Lourdes moved into third place in the WHAC standings with a 3-1 record.
Finding  A Rhythm: Lourdes has picked up victories in two straight contests and three of their last four outings. The Gray Wolves have outscored their opponents 50-17 in their three victories.
Getting Everyone Involved: With the exception of the Gray Wolf goalkeeper, every player who has played for Lourdes this season has notched at least one goal. Five players have tallied 13 or more goals for the Gray Wolf offense.Â
