Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes continues a stretch in which the Gray Wolves are playing six of eight games away from home with two more road games this week.  The Gray Wolves continue Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at Madonna before stepping out of league action for a game at Akron Wayne on Saturday.

Head Coach John Kenger: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, John Kenger sports an 15-33 (.313) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his fifth season overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 54-87 (.383) career mark.  He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Madonna holds a 12-5 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 11, 2012, but the Gray Wolves have won the last five meetings between the two schools.  Lourdes scored a 67-59 win over the Crusaders in the first meeting this season on Nov. 20 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Madonna is 7-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves in Livonia, Mich.  Lourdes is 2-0 all-time against Akron Wayne in a series that began Nov. 7, 2015.  The Gray Wolves won the last meeting between the two schools 58-32 on Dec. 8, 2015 in Adrian, Mich. after posting a 68-20 win in the first meeting in Orrville, Ohio.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes shot just 22.9% from the floor last Wednesday and suffered a 74-47 setback at Lawrence Tech.  Mary Liedel led the Gray Wolves with nine points while Riley Raburn added eight points in the loss.  On Saturday, Lourdes was within four points of 13th-ranked Indiana Tech with four minutes to play, but was unable to complete the upset, falling to the Warriors 66-56 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Erica Cary scored 12 points while Liedel added 11 more.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have dropped three consecutive games after falling 66-49 to Aquinas at home on Saturday.  Hannah Reinhold leads Madonna averaging 17.8 points per game while grabbing a team-high 7.5 rebounds per outing.  Vitoria Guardiola adds 13.1 points per night while Sydney Brown is adding 12.4 points per contest.

Scouting Akron Wayne: The Warriors enter the week having dropped six consecutive games after falling 72-48 at Miami-Hamilton on Sunday.  Akron Wayne hosts Ohio Eastern on Thursday before entertaining Lourdes.

A Solid Defensive Effort: While Lourdes was unable to come away with a win against Indiana Tech, the Gray Wolves did hold the Warriors to just 66 points, the second fewest Indiana Tech has scored in a WHAC game this season.

Looking for a Road Win: Lourdes is still in search of its first victory away from home this season.  The Gray Wolves last won on an opponents court on Jan. 23, 2019, as the Gray Wolves defeated Wright State-Lake.  The last WHAC road win for Lourdes was Jan. 9, 2019 at Concordia (Mich.).

Taking Care of the Basketball: While Lourdes is averaging 19.4 turnovers per game this season, the Gray Wolves were much better handling the ball last week.  The Gray Wolves committed just 12 turnovers against both Lawrence Tech and Indiana Tech.  The only game this season Lourdes has had fewer miscues was against Cornerstone (10) on Nov. 26, 2019.

Battling for a Tournament Berth: As Lourdes heads into the final eight games of the WHAC schedule, the Gray Wolves are batting for their first WHAC tournament berth in program history.  Currently Lourdes is one-half game behind Northwestern Ohio for the final postseason spot, but the Gray Wolves have played one more league game.  Lourdes downed Northwestern Ohio in their first head-to-head meeting of the year.

Cary Matches Career Best: Erica Cary tied her career high on Saturday, scoring a team-high 12 points in the loss to Indiana Tech.  The sophomore also scored 12 points in December at Spring Arbor and tallied 11 at home against Ohio Christian to begin the calendar year.

Semler Reaches 500 Points: Sara Semler surpassed 500 career points last Wednesday at Lawrence Tech.  The junior now has 514 career points, most among any active player at Lourdes.

Kershaw Gets to the Glass: Hunter Kershaw pulled down a career-high nine rebounds against Indiana Tech on Saturday, surpassing her previous best of eight.  She grabbed eight boards last season against Indiana Tech as well as at Olivet.

Balanced Scoring: Lourdes has six players averaging between 6.7 and 11.8 points per game this season, led by Mary Liedel's 11.8 points per contest.  Sara Semler is adding 9.8 points per outing while Mare West and Mirandia Green have contributed 8.3 and 8.2 points per game respectively.  Erica Cary (6.9 ppg) and Baylee Baldwin (6.7 ppg) have been regulars in the scoring column as well.

This and That: Mirandia Green and Sara Semler are the only two Gray Wolves to have started all 19 games this season ... Baylee Baldwin is the only other Lourdes player to appear in all 19 contests ... 12 different players have each started at least one game .
