Lourdes (3-11, 2-6 WHAC)
Game #15: Saturday, January 4, 1 p.m. EST
vs. Ohio Christian (10-5, 1-2 RSC)
Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After two weeks away from action, and nearly three weeks since a regular season game, Lourdes returns to the court on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Ohio Christian in a non-conference tilt.

Head Coach John Kenger: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, John Kenger sports an 14-29 (.326) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his fifth season overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Kenger has a 53-83 (.390) career mark.  He is the fourth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Ohio Christian won the only previous meeting between the two schools, 72-71, on Nov. 5, 2018 in Circleville, Ohio.  The Trailblazers hit the game-winning shot as time expired.  This will be Ohio Christian's first visit to Sylvania.

Wrapping Up Last Week (Or Two Weeks Ago): Lourdes battled back in the fourth quarter on Dec. 16 before dropping a 72-61 contest at Spring Arbor in the team's final regular season game prior to the holidays.  Sara Semler led the Gray Wolves with 13 points while Mirandia Green and Erica Cary each added 12 points.  Lourdes played an exhibition game on Dec. 21 at NCAA Division I Oakland and led the Golden Grizzlies at halftime before falling 72-53.  Green paced Lourdes with 13 points in the loss.

Scouting Ohio Christian: The Trailblazers have won four consecutive games after defeating Rochester (Mich.) 88-78 on Dec. 21.  Staci Dinsmore leads five Ohio Christian players averaging in double figures scoring 18.5 points per game.  Rachel Gillum adds 15.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest while Caroline Cox adds 15.7 points per outing.  Helaina Limas (14.9 ppg) and Logan Stidham (11.9 ppg) are both averaging in double figures as well.

A Long Hiatus: When Lourdes returns to the hardwood on Saturday, it will have been 19 days since the Gray Wolves last played a regular season game.  The span is the longest in program history, one day more than the holiday break Lourdes took last season.  In both seasons the Gray Wolves did play an exhibition game during the gap.

Running the Offense: Sara Semler has led the Lourdes offense both in scoring and in assists.  The junior guard is averaging 9.2 points per game this season while shooting a team-leading 46.2% from the floor.  Semler also ranks eighth in the WHAC handing out 2.9 assists per contests, having accounted for nearly one-third of the team's helpers.  Semler's 1.38 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks fifth among players with more than 20 assists.

Cary Scores in Double Figures for First Time: Erica Cary tallied a career high with 12 points on Dec. 16 in the Gray Wolves' last regular season game at Spring Arbor.  The sophomore had previously posted a career best of nine points at Grace Christian on Oct. 29.

Getting to the Glass: Erica Cary and Mirandia Green have led the Lourdes rebounding contingent this season pulling down 4.3 and 4.2 rebounds per game respectively.  The Gray Wolves have been outrebounded by 3.6 boards per contest on the season, and have rebounded by committee, with no player tallying double figures on the glass yet this season.  Cary has the most rebounds in a game with nine at Aquinas while Lauryn Gray pulled down eight caroms at Michigan-Dearborn.

Battling a NCAA Division I Foe: Lourdes played a NCAA Division I foe for just the second time in program history with the exhibition game at Oakland on Dec. 21.  The Gray Wolves held a one-point lead over the Golden Grizzlies at the half, and were still within three points, 36-33, with under four minutes to play in the third quarter.  The deficit was just seven with seven minutes to play before Oakland went on a late 11-0 run to put the game away.

Making Free Throws: Sirena Pitts and Baylee Baldwin have both had a great deal of success from the free throw line this season, connecting at better than 92% each.  Pitts is 14-of-15 from the charity stripe while Baldwin has made 12 of her 13 attempts.

It Has Been Awhile: The Gray Wolves are looking to open the calendar win with a victory for the first time since downing Marygrove on Jan. 4, 2014.  This year is the first time since the inaugural season (2012) in which Lourdes is playing a non-conference game to begin January.

Playing Well at Home: Lourdes has won five of its last eight games inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center dating back to Feb. 9, 2019.  For the 2019 calendar year, the Gray Wolves finished just under .500 with a 6-7 record on their home floor.

This and That: Mirandia Green and Sara Semler are the only two Gray Wolves to have started all 14 games this season ... nine different players have each started at least one game ... Semler is 38 points shy of 500 for her career.
