Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The 11th season of women's basketball tips off for Lourdes University on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to the Bluegrass State to battle Georgetown (Ky.).  Lourdes is looking to build upon an overtime loss in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference semifinals which ended last year's campaign.

Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her first season on the Lourdes bench, Tandy Bradford sports an 0-0 (.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her fourth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 21-59 (.356) career mark.  She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Georgetown (Ky.) are meeting on the hardwood for just the second time ever on Saturday.  The Tigers won the first meeting between the two schools 87-52 on Nov. 5, 2016 in Georgetown, Ky.

Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves finished the 2020-2021 season 5-14 overall and 3-10 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.  Lourdes finished in eighth place in the WHAC standings.  Lourdes upset regular season champion Rochester (Mich.) 66-60 in the WHAC tournament quarterfinals before falling in overtime at Concordia (Mich.) 91-84 in the semifinals.

Scouting Georgetown (Ky.): The Tigers opened their season on Thursday evening with a 101-52 victory at home against Miami-Hamilton.  Cassie Colon led four Georgetown players in double figures, scoring 23 points while handing out six assists and grabbing 12 rebounds.  Grace White added 14 points for the Tigers while AJ Stevenson and Callie Jackson scored 12 and 10 points respectively.  Georgetown went 3-13 last season, including 2-11 in the Mid-South Conference.

Returning Award Winner: Gabby Stover is back for her sophomore season after being named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Newcomer Team one season ago.  As a rookie Stover averaged 7.9 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game for the Gray Wolves.  She shot 38.8% from three-point range and a team-best 88.0% from the free throw line.

Lourdes in Season Openers: The Gray Wolves are 6-4 all-time in season openers after defeating Carlow at home 71-65 to open the 2020-2021 season.  The Gray Wolves have won three of their last four season openers.  Lourdes is 1-1 when opening the campaign on the road, having last started a season away from home in 2019, a 105-46 setback at Shawnee State.

Earliest Start Ever: When Lourdes tips off on Saturday, Oct. 23, it will mark the earliest start to a basketball season in program history.  The previous earliest start for the Gray Wolves was Oct. 25 to begin the 2019-2020 slate.

Pedroza Top Returning Scorer: Shae Pedroza is the team's top returning scorer from one season ago.  As a freshman, Pedroza tallied 8.8 points per game for the Gray Wolves, a mark that was third on the squad a year ago.  She shot 87.5% from the free throw line.  Pedroza was also second on the team in assists last season, handing out 36, an average of 1.9 per night.

A Young Squad: Among the entire Lourdes roster, the Gray Wolves have combined to play in just 178 games wearing the terra cotta and black.  Erica Cary has played the most games in a Lourdes uniform, 49, while Cary, Addie Conroy, and Logan Ingram are the only Gray Wolves to have two years of experience with the program.

Lots of New Faces: The Gray Wolves have seven players that have joined the roster this season, including six freshmen and a transfers.  Winter Richburg, Cydne Campbell, Lexie Sermak, Tayler Blum, Alex Wolfe, and Shallyn Miley are set to make their collegiate debuts this season.  Mercedes Wagner has joined the program as a transfer from NCAA Division II Wayne State.  In addition, Harmony Young sat out last season as redshirts and is set to make their first Lourdes appearance this year.

Against the Mid-South Conference: Lourdes will be looking for its first ever win against a current member of the Mid-South Conference on Saturday.  The Gray Wolves are 0-4 all-time against the league.  In addition to the first meeting against Georgetown (Ky.), Lourdes is 0-2 against Shawnee State and 0-1 versus Cumberlands (Ky.).

Lourdes Tabbed 10th in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just behind Northwestern Ohio and just ahead of Madonna in the balloting.  Indiana Tech was picked as the preseason favorite.
