Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having won back-to-back games, Lourdes returns home to the Ebeid Rec Center for the final two times of the 2021 calendar year. The Gray Wolves host Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action before entertaining Adrian on Wednesday night in a non-conference tilt.
Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
Dennis Hopson is 36-20 (.643) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach. He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Cornerstone leads the all-time series against Lourdes 20-2 dating back to Dec. 10, 2011. The Golden Eagles have won three straight meetings between the two schools. Last year Cornerstone posted an 85-67 victory over the Gray Wolves in Grand Rapids, Mich. in the lone meeting between the two schools. Lourdes and Adrian will be meeting on the hardwood for the first time ever on Wednesday night.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lawrence Tech made 17 three-point field goals on Wednesday (Dec. 1) on the way to an 81-75 victory over the Gray Wolves in Southfield, Mich. Lourdes had five player finish the game in double figures, with
Joey Holifield,
Brett Lauf, and
McRay White all leading the way with 13 points each. On Saturday (Dec. 4), Lourdes scored 56 points in the paint and 30 off of Wilberforce turnovers on the way to a 101-70 victory over the Bulldogs in the Ebeid Rec Center. White paced Lourdes with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. On Monday (Dec. 6), the Gray Wolves shot a blistering 60.4% from the floor and defeated Notre Dame (Ohio) 81-71 in South Euclid, Ohio.
Nick Welch tallied 19 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles are coming off a 68-62 victory at home against Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday (Dec. 4) afternoon. Christian Rodriguez leads Cornerstone in scoring, averaging 21.8 points per game while handing out 5.0 assists per night. Cory Ainsworth adds 13.6 points per outing while Carter Nyp is pouring in 13.5 points and grabbing a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per night.
Scouting Adrian: The Bulldogs have dropped six straight games after falling 98-90 to Case Western Reserve on Saturday (Dec. 4). Connor Pelham leads Adrian offensively, scoring 17.3 points while pulling down 9.5 rebounds per night. De'Ovion Price adds 14.3 points per contest while P'hariz Watkins is scoring 11.1 points per contest.
Super Sub: Jackie Harris has been solid off the bench for the Gray Wolves this season. He is averaging 13.3 points per game in just 18.5 minutes of action. Harris leads Lourdes with 29 three-point field goals this season and is connecting at a 43.3% clip.
Shooting Lights Out: As a team, Lourdes is shooting 53.0% from the floor this season. The Gray Wolves shot 55.2% at Lawrence Tech and 56.9% against Wilberforce last week before blistering the nets at a 60.4% clip on Monday at Notre Dame (Ohio).
Averaging a Double-Double: Nick Welch is tallying 14.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game this season for the Gray Wolves. He tallied his fourth double-double of the year against Wilberforce, scoring 20 points while adding 12 boards.
These Guys Don't Miss: Joey Holifield leads Lourdes averaging 17.6 points per game this season. He is shooting 67.7% from the floor and 85.4% from the free throw line.
McRay White is also shooting well from the field, connecting at a 64.6% clip. White is tallying 13.2 points per outing.
More Double Figure Scoring: Little Anderson makes it five Gray Wolves averaging in double figures this season, scoring 11.6 points per outing. He is shooting 52.4% from the field, including 41.5% from beyond the arc.
Dishing the Rock: Brett Lauf has run the Gray Wolf offensive this season, handing out 5.4 assists per contest this year. He has a 1.42 assist-to-turnover ratio while directing the Lourdes offense.
Lighting Up the Scoreboard: Lourdes is averaging 91.9 points per game through the first 10 contests of the season. The Gray Wolves have produced their top two scoring games in program history this season already, having tallied a school record 116 points against East-West before adding 115 in the win over Wilberforce. Lourdes has surpassed the century mark three times, most in a season in program history.

Lourdes Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in third place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just ahead of Madonna and just behind Rochester (Mich.) in the league balloting. Indiana Tech is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2021-2022.
This and That: The Gray Wolves are shooting 76.3% as a team from the free throw line ... Lourdes is outrebounding opponents by 10.2 boards per game ... the Gray Wolves are also outscoring their opposition by 20.8 points per night.
