Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After nine days off for Christmas, Lourdes returns to the hardwood on Thursday afternoon, closing out 2021 with a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game at Rochester (Mich.). The Gray Wolves then step out of league play and ring in 2022 on Saturday afternoon with a trip to 24th-ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her first season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports an 5-9 (.357) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fourth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 26-68 (.277) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Rochester (Mich.) holds a 9-2 all-time series edge against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 23, 20212. Last season the two schools split a pair of meetings. The Warriors notched a 63-50 triumph inside the Ebeid Rec Center on Feb. 7 during the regular season before the Gray Wolves scored a 66-60 upset win in Rochester Hills, Mich. on Feb. 25 in the quarterfinals of the WHAC tournament. Rochester holds a 4-1 series edge in Rochester Hills. Mount Vernon Nazarene is 2-0 all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to Nov. 8, 2014. The two schools have not met since Nov. 10, 2015, a 55-54 Cougars win at Tam-o-Shanter. Lourdes is 0-1 all-time in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes used a 30-4 edge in the second quarter to defeat Miami-Hamilton 76-44 on Dec. 21 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Mercedes Wagner tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while
Shae Pedroza added 15 points.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors have dropped three consecutive games following an 84-70 setback at 11th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on Dec. 22. Jacara Thompson leads Rochester in scoring, averaging 13.9 points per game while Lauren Wynn adds 12.6 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per contest. Elysia Mattos and Hannah Reinhold give the Warriors four double figure scorers, tallying 12.4 and 10.2 points per game respectively.
Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene: The Cougars snapped a two-game losing skid with a 77-62 win at Multnomah in their last outing on Dec. 16. Mount Vernon Nazarene travels to Pikeville on Thursday before hosting Lourdes. Maggie Coe leads the Cougars in scoring, tallying 16.9 points per game while Rylee Pireu adds 12.7 points per night. Maggie Coblentz and Sage Brannon add 11.6 and 11.4 points per outing respectively. On the glass, Lily Drieger leads Mount Vernon Nazarene grabbing 8.8 rebounds per contest.
Closing Out 2021: Lourdes will close out 2021 on Thursday looking for its 10th victory of the calendar year. The Gray Wolves are 9-21 over the last 365-day span, but enter the contest winners of two of their last three games.
Another Ranked Opponent: Lourdes will be facing its second NAIA top-25 foe of the season to open 2022 on Saturday with a trip to 24th-ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Gray Wolves fell earlier this year 81-48 at ninth-ranked Indiana Tech and are looking to snap a 50-game losing skid to ranked opponents. Lourdes is 1-51 all-time against the top-25, with the lone win coming on Nov. 5, 2011, a 79-75 triumph at 18th-ranked Indiana-Northwest.
Crashing the Glass: Lourdes is outrebounding its opponents by 2.5 boards per contest this season with a trio of players averaging at least seven rebounds per game.
Mercedes Wagner leads the way with 7.6 caroms per game while
Gabby Stover and
Shallyn Miley are grabbing 7.4 and 7.1 rebounds per night respectively. The Gray Wolves are also grabbing 14.5 offensive boards per night, led by Miley's 3.2 per contest.
Pedroza Paces the Offense: Shae Pedroza leads Lourdes in scoring, averaging 12.1 points per game this year. The sophomore guard is shooting 40.7% from three-point range, having made a team-high 24 triples, while also shooting 86.4% from the free throw line. Pedroza is also tied for second on the Gray Wolves' squad with 28 assists.
Guarding the Perimeter: Lourdes has limited its opposition to just 27.8% shooting from three-point range this season. Last Tuesday, Miami-Hamilton made just 4-of-26 (15.4%) attempts from long range.
Record-Setting Effort: Lourdes shattered its school record by scoring 132 points in the victory over Miami-Middletown on Nov. 6. The previous mark was 107 points scored at Northwestern Ohio on Feb. 14, 2018. The 58-point margin of victory, 132-74, also broke the previous mark of 54 set on Nov. 6, 2018 against Wright State-Lake, 101-47, and matched last season at Akron Wayne in an 81-27 victory.
Lourdes Tabbed 10th in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Northwestern Ohio and just ahead of Madonna in the balloting. Indiana Tech was picked as the preseason favorite.
