Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The stretch run of the 2020-2021 regular season has arrived.  Lourdes heads to Cornerstone on Tuesday evening before making up a game at home against Lawrence Tech on Friday afternoon.  The week concludes for the Gray Wolves on Sunday with a trip to Indiana Tech.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 27-14 (.659) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone holds a 19-2 all-time edge against Lourdes dating back to Dec. 10, 2011.  The Golden Eagles swept last season's series winning 68-63 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and 72-69 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Cornerstone is 10-1 against the Gray Wolves in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Lourdes is 11-6 against Lawrence Tech in a series that began Nov. 3, 2012.  The two schools split last season's meetings, with the Blue Devils winning in Southfield, Mich. 71-64 before Lourdes posted a 78-48 win at home.  Lourdes is 3-1 against the Blue Devils all-time inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Indiana Tech holds a 13-9 series advantage against the Gray Wolves dating back to Oct. 30, 2010.  Lourdes won this season's first meeting, 95-66, back on Jan. 27 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  The Warriors are 7-4 against Lourdes in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes suffered its first WHAC loss of the season on Saturday (Feb. 13), falling at Aquinas 75-59.  Clif Snow scored 18 points while Brett Lauf added 11 more for the Gray Wolves.  Julian Egbo posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  On Sunday (Feb. 14), the Gray Wolves bounced back with a 78-57 triumph at home over Siena Heights.  Egbo paced Lourdes with 18 points while Snow and Lauf each added 13 more.  

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have won two straight after downing Northwestern Ohio 102-73 on the road Saturday (Feb. 13).  Christian Rodriguez is tallying 14.1 points per game while Cory Ainsworth adds 13.8 points per outing.  Riley Costen is also scoring in double figures, adding 12.2 points per night for a team scoring 88.2 points per outing.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have dropped three straight games after falling to Rochester (Mich.) 75-68 at home on Sunday.  Brandon Beavers leads Lawrence Tech averaging 16.9 points per game while Carter Frantz adds 12.5 points per night.  Gunna Gustafson and Alek Ivanovic have both chipped in 12.1 points per outing.  Lawrence Tech visits Aquinas on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.
 
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won five straight games after downing Lawrence Tech 78-65 on Wednesday (Feb. 10).    Indiana Tech hosts Madonna on Tuesday, Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday, and is at Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday before hosting Lourdes.  Grant Smith leads Indiana Tech averaging 14.5 points per game while Josh Kline adds 14.3 points per outing.  Rog Stein tallies 13.6 points per night while Cory McKinney is also tallying double figures at 11.4 points per game.

Schedule Changes: In this year of COVID-19, this season's schedule has constantly been changing.  This week Lourdes and Cornerstone moved their game originally scheduled for Wednesday up one day and will now meet on Tuesday of this week.  In addition, the Gray Wolves will make up a postponed contest with Lawrence Tech at home on Friday afternoon.
 
School Record Holder: Clif Snow has become Lourdes all-time leading scorer after making a three-pointer in the first half against Concordia (Mich.) on Jan. 31.  Snow, who entered the game tied with Zach Steinmetz (2013-2016) for the scoring mark with 1,395 career points, has seen his total grow and now has 1,438 points over his four years with the Gray Wolves.  

Egbo Produces Down Low: Julian Egbo had big back-to-back games for the Gray Wolves against a pair of Saints.  The senior center posted his second double-double of the year against Aquinas with 10 points and 11 rebounds before leading the team in scoring with a season-high 18 points on Sunday against Siena Heights.

Playing Defense: Lourdes is 13th in the NAIA allowing just 67.8 points per game this season.  The Gray Wolves have kept six of 10 opponents under 70 points this year with three failing to reach 60 points in a game.

Crashing the Offensive Glass: Lourdes ranks 12th among all NAIA schools averaging 13.7 offensive rebounds per game.  Individually, Nick Welch is ninth on the offensive glass, grabbing 3.625 offensive rebounds per outing.  Lourdes has turned its 137 offensive rebounds this year into 161 second chance points.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has handed out 144 assists and committed just 109 turnovers this season while the defensively yielding just 119 assists and forcing 134 miscues.  As a team, Lourdes' 1.32 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 18th nationally.

This and That: Lourdes has not played a game this season that has been decided by five points or less ... the Gray Wolves are 7-0 when leading at halftime but 0-3 when trailing.
