Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes heads into postseason play on Thursday evening as the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic tournament begins with the quarterfinal round.  The Gray Wolves enter the event as the fifth seed, taking to the road to battle Madonna.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 29-16 (.644) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Madonna holds a 13-9 series advantage all-time dating back to Nov. 6, 2010.  The two schools split a pair of meetings during the 2019-2020 season.  The Crusaders were 72-68 victors inside the Ebeid Rec Center before Lourdes answered with an 87-77 overtime triumph in Livonia, Mich.  The Gray Wolves hold a slight 6-5 advantage all-time in games in Livonia.

This Season's Previous Meeting: Lourdes and Madonna were slated to meet just once during the regular season, but their matchup on Feb. 10 in Livonia, Mich. was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Wrapping Up the Regular Season: Lourdes suffered a buzzer-beating one-point setback to Indiana Tech on the road 81-80 on Sunday afternoon.  Julian Egbo went 12-of-22 from the floor with 29 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss while Brett Lauf added 14 points.  On Tuesday, the Gray Wolves concluded the regular season with a 75-68 come-from-behind victory.  Kenny Coleman was 9-of-11 from the floor on his way to a team-high 24 points while Egbo added 16 more.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the tournament having won seven consecutive games following an 87-58 triumph to close the regular season at Aquinas on Tuesday night.  Henry Speight leads Madonna averaging 22.9 points per game while Mark Mettie adds 17.4 points per night.  Mettie also leads the Crusaders grabbing 9.5 rebounds per contest.  Noah Campbell is also scoring in double figures for Madonna, tallying 10.8 points per outing.  Madonna is scoring 79.4 points per game this season while yielding 73.4 points per night.

Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: Lourdes is 3-6 all-time in WHAC tournament play as the Gray Wolves make their seventh overall appearance in the postseason event.  The Gray Wolves advanced to the championships game in 2012, falling to Davenport in the title tilt.  Lourdes advanced to the semifinals in 2013 while falling in the quarterfinals in 2014, 2015, and 2019.  Last year the Gray Wolves dropped a 72-69 decision at home to Cornerstone in the quarterfinals.

School Record Holder: Clif Snow became Lourdes all-time leading scorer after making a three-pointer in the first half against Concordia (Mich.) on Jan. 31.  Snow, who entered the game tied with Zach Steinmetz (2013-2016) for the scoring mark with 1,395 career points, has seen his total grow and now has 1,470 points over his four years with the Gray Wolves.  

Other School Marks: Clif Snow also holds the school record for assists with 279 over four seasons.  He is first all-time with 192 career three-point field goals and 298 made free throws as well. Snow ranks second all-time with 718 rebounds and 51 blocked shots.

Egbo Produces Down Low: Julian Egbo has scored in double figures in five of his last six games for the Gray Wolves, raising his scoring average to 11.2 points per night.  He tallied a career-high 29 points at Indiana Tech, six more than his previous high at Lourdes set last season.

Playing Defense: Lourdes is 23rd in the NAIA allowing just 69.6 points per game this season.  The Gray Wolves have not lost a game this season when holding the opposition to less than 70 points.

Crashing the Offensive Glass: Lourdes ranks 28th among all NAIA schools averaging 12.4 offensive rebounds per game.  Lourdes has turned its 173 offensive rebounds this year into 193 second chance points.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has handed out 197 assists and committed just 142 turnovers this season.  As a team, Lourdes' 1.39 assist-to-turnover ratio ranks 12th nationally.  Charles Swain is 15th in NAIA with a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio while Kenny Coleman's 2.7 mark is 34th best.

Making Free Throws: Lourdes has continued to make free throws this season.  The Gray Wolves are shooting 74.4% as a team, a mark that ranks 27th in the nation.  Individually, Julian Egbo ranks 47th shooting at an 82.6% clip from the charity stripe.

Double Trouble:  As a team, Lourdes has had nine double-doubles this season. Nick Welch has registered four while Julian Egbo and Brett Lauf have two each.  Clif Snow also has a double-double this year.  Lauf has the two most recent ones, a points-rebounds double-double at home against Lawrence Tech and a points-assist one at Indiana Tech

This and That: Lourdes has not played an overtime game all season ... Clif Snow is the only Gray Wolf to start all 14 games this season ... Lourdes is 2-4 on the road this season and 61-93 all-time in program history.
