Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes looks to match its longest winning streak in program history on Wednesday as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas.  The four-game homestand then comes to a close on Saturday against Lawrence Tech before Lourdes heads to Rochester (Mich.) on Monday.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 44-20 (.688) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Aquinas have split their 20 previous meetings 10-10 dating back to Nov. 30, 2011.  The Saints won this season's first meeting 90-87 on Nov. 10 in Grand Rapids, Mich. for their second straight win against Lourdes.  The series is even 2-2 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  The Gray Wolves hold a 12-7 edge against Lawrence Tech in a series that began Nov. 3, 2012.  Lawrence Tech won the first meeting between the two schools 81-75 on Dec. 1 in Southfield, Mich.  Rochester (Mich.) is 8-2 all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to Jan. 22, 2011.  Lourdes snapped a two-game losing skid against the Warriors on Jan. 15 with a 77-69 win in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Rochester is 4-1 against the Gray Wolves in Rochester Hills, Mich.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes built a 19-point halftime lead on the way to defeating Concordia (Mich.) 89-72 on Wednesday (Jan. 12).  McRay White and Nick Welch paced the Gray Wolves with 19 points each.  Saturday (Jan. 15) Lourdes extended its win streak with a 77-69 victory over Rochester (Mich.).  Welch had 24 points and 13 rebounds while Little Anderson added 21 points.

Scouting Aquinas: The Saints have dropped four of their last five games after a 70-57 setback at home against Cornerstone on Saturday.  Gabe Overway leads Aquinas averaging 16.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while Sammie Ryans adds 15.8 points per night.  Jaylen Rutherford and Jesse Hillis are both scoring in double figures as well, tallying 21.5 and 11.7 points per game respectively.

Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils have won three of their last four games after defeating Siena Heights 73-69 on Saturday afternoon. Lawrence Tech travels to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  Brandon Beavers leads the Blue Devils scoring 19.0 points per game while Gunnar Gustafson adds 13.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per night.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors had their four-game winning streak snapped at Lourdes 77-69 last Saturday.  Rochester hosts Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday and travels to Siena Heights on Saturday before hosting the Gray Wolves.  Diego Robinson leads Rochester averaging 13.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while AJ Johnson adds 12.8 points per night.  Virgil Walker Jr. is also averaging in double figures for the Warriors, scoring 11.5 points per game.

Welch Named WHAC Player of the Week: One week after McRay White was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Nick Welch picked up the latest honor for the Gray Wolves after averaging 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 69.0% from the floor in the two wins.  Welch began the week with a 19-point game against Concordia (Mich.) on 9-of-11 shooting.  He followed that effort up with a 24-point, 13-rebound performance in the victory over Rochester (Mich.).

Looking to Match the School Mark: Lourdes current 10-game winning streak is the second longest streak in program history.  With a win against Aquinas, the Gray Wolves match the program's school-record 11-game winning streak which took place from Nov. 23, 2019-Jan. 8, 2020.

Home Sweet Home: Lourdes enters this week a perfect 9-0 inside the Ebeid Rec Center this season.  In fact, the Gray Wolves have won 16 consecutive games at home after going 7-0 last season as well.  The Gray Wolves' last home loss came against Cornerstone on Feb. 26, 2020 in the WHAC quarterfinals.

Anderson Comes Up Big: Little Anderson has scored 20 or more points in three of the Gray Wolves' last four games, averaging 20.8 points per game during the span.  For the season, Anderson is now scoring 12.6 points per outing while shooting 48.0% from the floor.

Putting Up Points: Lourdes has scored 70 or more points in every game this season while holding the opposition below the 70-point threshold in 10 of the 18 contests.  Six times this year the Gray Wolves have surpassed the 90-point mark.

Nothing but Net: McRay White, Joey Holifield, and Nick Welch are all shooting better than 56% from the floor this year.  White leads the way at 64.3% while Holifield and Welch follow at 56.4% and 56.0% respectively.  As a team, Lourdes is connecting at a 51.3% clip from the field.

Rewrite the Record Books: Lourdes set a new school record earlier this season with 116 points against East-West in the season opener on Oct. 26 but re-broke the mark on Dec. 20 with 117 points at Penn State-Shenango.  In fact, the top three scoring games in program history have all happened this season as the Gray Wolves also tallied 115 points at Wilberforce on Nov. 13.  The previous record prior to this season was 114 points against Wright State-Lake in 2019.

This and That: Monday's game at Rochester (Mich.) is a make-up from the Dec. 30 postponement ... The Gray Wolves are outscoring their opposition by 20.4 points per night ... Lourdes is tied for fifth in NAIA averaging 88.3 points per game ... McRay White has blocked 26 shots in 18 games.
