Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The 12th season of women's basketball tips off for Lourdes University on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves host Mount Vernon Nazarene.  Lourdes begins the season with a three-game homestand over the first eight days of the campaign.

Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her second season on the Lourdes bench, Tandy Bradford sports a 10-20 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 31-79 (.282) career mark.  She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Mount Vernon Nazarene leads the all-time series against Lourdes 2-1 dating back to Nov. 8, 2014.  The Gray Wolves earned their first victory in the series last season with a 67-61 triumph on Jan. 1, 2022 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.  This will be the Cougars first trip to the Ebeid Rec Center, having won the only previous game on the Gray Wolves' home floor in 2015-2016 at Tam-o-Shanter.

Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves finished the 2021-2022 season 10-20 overall and 3-17 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.  Lourdes finished in 10th place in the WHAC standings but did not qualify for the WHAC tournament.  The Gray Wolves did notch a win against a top-25 opponent though, defeating #24 Mount Vernon Nazarene 67-61 on Jan. 1, 2022.

Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene: The Cougars are coming off of a 14-16 season in 2021-2022 while posting an 8-9 record in Crossroads League play.  Mount Vernon Nazarene has six players on its roster returning from last year, including its top three scorers.  Maggie Coe led the way averaging 16.9 points per game while Rylee Pireu added 14.2 points per night.  Sage Brannon chipped in 10.8 points per contest last year and is the team's top returning rebounder after grabbing 5.3 boards per outing.

Returning Award Winners: Shae Pedroza and Mercedes Wagner both earned Second Team All-WHAC accolades last season for the Gray Wolves.  Pedroza averaged 10.3 points per game and shared the team lead with 61 assists in her sophomore season while shooting a team-best 37.4% from three-point range and 88.9% from the free throw line.  Wagner led Lourdes with 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per outing while shooting a team-leading 46.0% from the field.

Lourdes in Season Openers: The Gray Wolves are 6-5 all-time in season openers after falling at Georgetown (Ky.) 93-61 to open the 2021-2022 season.  The Gray Wolves last season-opening win came on Oct. 27, 2020, a 71-65 triumph at home against Carlow.  Lourdes is 5-3 in season openers at home, the last of which was the Carlow game in 2020.

Home Sweet Home: Lourdes is 8-3 all-time in its home openers and has won its first home game of the season in five consecutive years.  The Gray Wolves downed Spring Arbor 70-60 to begin last year's home campaign.  All-time, Lourdes enters this season with a 29-52 record inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center after posting a 7-9 record on its home floor in 2021-2022.

Lots of Returning Scoring: Lourdes returns five of its top seven scorers from last season.  Juniors Mercedes Wagner (12.7 ppg) and Shae Pedroza (10.3 ppg) led the way as the only two Gray Wolves to average in double figures.  Logan Ingram added 9.3 points per contest in 2021-2022.  Alex Wolfe (6.7 ppg) and Nadeen Jemaa (6.4 ppg) also are among the top returning scorers.

Sister Act: Lourdes has a pair of sister combinations on the roster this season.  Freshman Emma Pedroza joins her sister Shae Pedroza, who is a junior this year.  In addition, a pair of freshmen twins will be playing alongside one another in Kambry Edwards and Karsyn Edwards.

Lots of New Faces: The Gray Wolves have nine players that have joined the roster this season, including five freshmen and four transfers.  Emma Pedroza, Karsyn Edwards, Kambry Edwards, Grace Ryan, and Tamyah Worthy are set to make their collegiate debuts this season.  Macie Stringfellow will also play collegiate basketball for the first time this year after transferring from Indiana University where she did not play last season.  Zaria Bridgewater is a sophomore transfer from Jackson College while Halle Barnett is a junior arriving from Wayne State University.  Lika Mikiashvilli arrives for her junior campaign after playing at Oklahoma Christian University.

Just Two Seniors: Lourdes is still relatively young this season with just two seniors.  Addie Conroy and Logan Ingram are both true seniors while Nadeen Jemaa is in her fourth season with the program but is a redshirt-junior.

Against the Crossroads League: Lourdes is 5-12 all-time against current members of the Crossroads League.  In addition to going 1-2 against Mount Vernon Nazarene, the Gray Wolves have wins over Goshen (3-1) and Spring Arbor (1-4).  Lourdes has also faced Marian (0-1), Saint Francis (Ind.) (0-1), and Taylor (0-3).

Lourdes Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in seventh place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just behind Concordia (Mich.) and just ahead of Madonna in the balloting.  Indiana Tech was tabbed as the preseason favorite.

This and That: Lourdes is 90-225 all-time entering the program's 12th season ... the Gray Wolves are 4-3 all-time in overtime contests ... Shae Pedroza is 53 points shy of 500 for her career.
