Five-Game Road Trip Ahead for Men's Basketball

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes takes to the road this week to begin a stretch of five straight games away from the Ebeid Rec Center.  The road trip begins on Wednesday with a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference clash at Siena Heights before the Gray Wolves head across Michigan on Saturday to face Cornerstone.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 56-26 (.667) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: The Gray Wolves hold a 15-8 series advantage against Siena Heights dating back to Nov. 12, 2011.  Lourdes has won the last six games against the Saints after sweeping the season series one year ago.  Lourdes won 76-58 in the Ebeid Rec Center and 60-57 in Adrian, Mich.  The Gray Wolves hold a 6-5 series edge in Adrian.  Cornerstone is 21-3 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began Dec. 10, 2011.  The two schools split last season's meetings with the Gray Wolves winning 89-66 in the Ebeid Rec Center and the Golden Eagles defending their home court in Grand Rapids, Mich. with an 87-67 win.  Cornerstone is 12-1 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped its first game of the season on Wednesday evening, falling 60-41 at Concordia (Mich.).  Jackie Harris was the lone Gray Wolf to score in double figures in the loss.  On Saturday, the Gray Wolves rebounded with a 95-55 home victory over Michigan-Dearborn.  Little Anderson led the way with 21 points while Joey Holifield added 13 more.  Jackie Harris had a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints are still looking for their first win of the season after falling at Aquinas 80-72 on Saturday afternoon.  Curtis Bell III leads the Saints in scoring averaging 14.3 points per game while Davin Walker ads 13.0 points per night.  Colin Nutter chips in 12.3 points and is grabbing a team-best 8.7 rebounds per contest while Landon Links is also tallying double figures at 10.0 points per night.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week having won four straight after defeating Northwestern Ohio 105-73 on the road Saturday.  Cornerstone hosts Madonna on Wednesday before entertaining Lourdes.  Cory Ainsworth paces the Golden Eagles averaging 19.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season.  Carter Nyp adds 14.8 points while Luke Rowlinson has scored 14.0 points per night.  Eli Steffen has chipped in 11.8 points per game.

Schedule Updates: Saturday's game at Cornerstone has been pushed back to a 6 p.m. start to accommodate the Golden Eagles hosting an women's volleyball opening round match in the NAIA National Championships.  In addition, the Gray Wolves' game that was slated for New Year's Eve against Windsor has been moved to Jan. 3 with a 1 p.m. tip time.

Harris Registers Double-Double: Jackie Harris recorded the first double-double of the season for a Gray Wolf with his 11-point, 10-rebound effort against Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.  Harris now has three double-doubles in his Lourdes career.

Now That's Balanced Offense: Lourdes had five players tally double figures in the win over the Wolverines on Saturday.  Little Anderson led the way with 21 points, the most by a Gray Wolf this season.  Joey Holifield added 13 points while Jackie Harris and Nic Borojevich each tallied 11 more.  Stephen Coleman Jr. tallied 10 points as both he and Borojevich scored in double figures for the first time in their collegiate careers.

Making Shots: Marcus Larsson has been effective in the post for the Gray Wolves this season.  The senior transfer is shooting 68.8% from the floor this year while averaging 7.5 points per game in his first year at Lourdes.

Crashing the Boards: Lourdes is outrebounding its opponents by 6.2 boards per contest this season.  Jackie Harris leads the way pulling down 7.5 rebounds per outing.  The Gray Wolves are averaging 11 offensive boards per night.

Anderson Nearing 900 Career Points: Little Anderson enters the week needing just nine more points to reach 900 for his career at Lourdes.  The senior has averaged 10.9 points per game during his four years with the Gray Wolves.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has handed out nearly as many assists as turnovers this year at a 49-to-52 ratio.  The Gray Wolves are averaging just 13 miscues to per game.  Clif Snow has 10 assists while committing just three turnovers and Brett Lauf has a team-high 11 helpers.

Lourdes Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in third place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Cornerstone and just behind Madonna in the league balloting.  Indiana Tech is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2022-2023.

This and That: Clif Snow needs four rebounds for 750 in his career ... Little Anderson is shooting 53.8% (7-of-13) from three-point range ... Marcus Larsson has seven blocked shots in four games ... Lourdes has not played an overtime game since Feb. 5, 2020 against Michigan-Dearborn (lost 86-78).
