Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up its three-game road trip on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves make the trip south to face the University of Northwestern Ohio. Following the game, Lourdes will have eight days off for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports a 13-24 (.351) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 34-83 (.291) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio holds a 14-8 all-time series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 18, 2012. The two schools split a pair of contests last season, with each winning on the other's home floor. The Racers were a 56-49 victor in the Ebeid Rec Center while Lourdes notched a 65-50 win in Lima, Ohio. Northwestern Ohio holds a 6-5 series edge all-time in Lima.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes led Siena Heights by eight with under five minutes to play on Wednesday evening before the Saints scored 16 of the final 18 points to defeat the Gray Wolves 81-75 in Adrian, Mich.
Emma Pedroza led Lourdes with 19 points and eight rebounds while
Macie Stringfellow added 15 points. On Saturday, Cornerstone scored 59 first half points on the way to a 91-70 win over the Gray Wolves in Grand Rapids, Mich. Halle Parnett scored a team-high 16 points while Pedroza added 14 more.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers snapped a two-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon with an 81-70 double-overtime victory over Siena Heights a home. Jada Haines leads Northwestern Ohio averaging 22.7 points per game this season. Alysia Lawson has added 14.0 points per outing while Kalea Kruser is the team's top rebounder, pulling down 6.8 boards per contest.
Freshman Leading the Offensive Charge: Rookie
Emma Pedroza has led Lourdes in scoring this season, averaging 11.4 points per game. She has scored in double figures five times already this year, including her last four appearances. Pedroza scored a career-high 19 points on Wednesday night at Siena Heights.
Sister Act: Not to be outdone by her sister,
Shae Pedroza is second on the squad tallying 9.7 points per game this season. The junior guard has done a great deal of her damage at the free throw line, connecting on 18-of-19 (.947) attempts this season.
Taking Care of the Basketball: Nadeen Jemaa has a 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio while running the offense for the Gray Wolves this season. Jemaa has handed out a team-leading 20 assists this season, more than 25% of the team's helpers, while committing just 10 turnovers.
Back-to-Back Solid Efforts: Macie Stringfellow tallied her career high scoring 15 points on Wednesday evening at Siena Heights. She followed that effort up with a 13-point scoring day on Saturday at Cornerstone, giving her four double-figure scoring games already this season. Stringfellow is third on the squad tallying 8.7 points per night.
Crashing the Boards as Well: After grabbing 13 rebounds over her first five games as a collegian,
Macie Stringfellow pulled down 16 boards in the two games last week. She grabbed seven caroms on Wednesday at Siena Heights before leading the team with a career-high nine boards on Saturday at Cornerstone.
Barnett Tallies Big Game: Halle Barnett had her highest scoring game as a Gray Wolf on Saturday, tallying 16 points at Cornerstone. The junior transfer made 8-of-12 shots from the floor in the game and is now shooting 57.1% from the field on the year.
Break on the Horizon: Following Tuesday's game, Lourdes will have eight days off before returning to the hardwood against Aquinas. The Gray Wolves will have another eight-day break around Christmas, part of a stretch in which Lourdes plays just once in a 17-day span following the game on Dec. 21 before the return to WHAC play on Jan. 7.
Putting Up the Points: The 91 points the Gray Wolves scored against Michigan-Dearborn on Nov. 12 marked the team's highest total since scoring a school-record 132 against Miami-Middletown on Nov. 6, 2021. It is also the team's second highest total since Nov. 6, 2018 when Lourdes scored 101 against Wright State-Lake.
Lourdes Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in seventh place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Concordia (Mich.) and just ahead of Madonna in the balloting. Indiana Tech was tabbed as the preseason favorite.
