Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes returns home for a brief two-game homestand this week with a pair of key Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contests. The Gray Wolves will entertain Aquinas on Wednesday night before hosting Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her second season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports a 13-25 (.342) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 34-84 (.288) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Aquinas holds a 20-1 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that began Nov. 30, 2011. The Saints have won three straight meetings between the two schools after sweeping last year's meetings 56-37 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and 70-54 in the Ebeid Rec Center. Aquinas holds a 4-1 series advantage inside the Ebeid Rec Center. Lawrence Tech is 15-4 all-time against Lourdes dating back to Nov. 17, 2012. The Blue Devils won both contests last season, posting a 68-60 victory in Southfield, Mich. before downing the Gray Wolves 56-42 in the Ebeid Rec Center. Lawrence Tech is 5-1 all-time inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes trailed by 17 points with six minutes to play last Tuesday (Nov. 22) at Northwestern Ohio and closed to within five but ran out of time to complete the comeback, falling 88-83 in Lima, Ohio.
Emma Pedroza led the Gray Wolves with 15 points while
Macie Stringfellow added 12 points.
Shae Pedroza and
Alex Wolfe each chipped in 10 points for the Gray Wolves.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints have dropped three straight games after suffering a 49-46 setback on the road at Indiana Tech last Tuesday (Nov. 22). Isabel Reemsnyder leads Aquinas offensively, averaging 12.1 points per game. Mauriya Barnes has added 9.5 points per night for a team scoring just 56.0 points per outing. JaKarri Alven is pulling down a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game this year.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils enter the week having won a pair of games at the Siena Heights Thanksgiving Classic after downing Governors State 57-56 in overtime on Sunday. Lawrence Tech travels to Concordia on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Kendall Fisher leads the Blue Devils averaging 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. Jade Faris has added 11.4 points per night while Maggie Long is tallying 10.7 points per contest.
Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor its two seniors prior to Saturday's game against Lawrence Tech.
Addie Conroy and
Logan Ingram will both be receiving their bachelor's degrees on Dec. 10.
Spreading Out the Offense: For just the second time this season, Lourdes had four players finish in double figures last Wednesday at Northwestern Ohio.
Emma Pedroza led the way with 15 points while
Macie Stringfellow added 12 more.
Shae Pedroza and
Alex Wolfe each chipped in 10 points. The Gray Wolves nearly had seven in double figures as
Nadeen Jemaa and
Winter Richburg both scored nine points while
Halle Barnett tallied eight. Lourdes also had four players in double figures in the victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Nov. 12.
Getting to the Offensive Glass: Lourdes pulled down 17 offensive rebounds at Northwestern Ohio, leading to 26 second chance points in the game. The Gray Wolves are averaging 10.4 offensive boards per contest this season. Lourdes has had its two best games in terms of second chance points over the last two contests, having scored 17 off of offensive rebounds against Cornerstone as well.
Freshman Leading the Offensive Charge: Rookie
Emma Pedroza has led Lourdes in scoring this season, averaging 11.9 points per game, the only Gray Wolf averaging in double figures. She has scored in double figures six times already this year in her eight games, including her last five appearances.
Sister Act: Not to be outdone by her sister,
Shae Pedroza is second on the squad tallying 9.8 points per game this season and has four double figure scoring games on the year. The junior guard has done a great deal of her damage at the free throw line, connecting on 18-of-19 (.947) attempts this season.
Stringfellow on a Roll: Macie Stringfellow has scored in double figures in three straight games for the Gray Wolves, averaging 13.3 points per game over the stretch. Stringfellow is third on the squad overall tallying 9.1 points per night.
Offense Starting to Click: After scoring 70 or more points just once over the first four games of the season, Lourdes has tallied at least 70 points in each of its last four contests. The 91 points the Gray Wolves scored against Michigan-Dearborn on Nov. 12 marked the team's highest total since scoring a school-record 132 against Miami-Middletown on Nov. 6, 2021.
Lourdes Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in seventh place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Concordia (Mich.) and just ahead of Madonna in the balloting. Indiana Tech was tabbed as the preseason favorite.
