Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After six days off for final exams, Lourdes returns to the hardwood on Friday night.  The Gray Wolves head to Madonna for a rematch from last year's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament title game won by Lourdes.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 61-27 (.693) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Madonna holds a 16-10 all-time series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Nov. 6, 2010.  The Crusaders won both regular season meetings against the Gray Wolves last year, posting an 86-78 win in Livonia, Mich. before downing the Gray Wolves 79-9 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes snapped a three-game losing streak to Madonna in the WHAC tournament championships game though, defeating the Crusaders 79-61 in Livonia, Mich.  The all-time series is tied 7-7 in games played in Livonia.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes jumped out to a quick lead on Wednesday (Nov. 30) and defeated Aquinas 80-62 at home.  Brett Lauf came off the bench to score 20 points while Little Anderson added 14 more.  Saturday afternoon, Joey Holifield hit the game-winning shot with 1.6 seconds remaining as the Gray Wolves defeated Lawrence Tech 77-76 at home.  Holifield had a team-high 21 points while Jackie Harris added 14 more.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have won two straight games after defeating Concordia (Mich.) 72-66 on the road Saturday afternoon.  Brendan Young leads Madonna averaging 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while Mark Mettie adds 15.8 points per night.  Henry Speight is scoring 14.5 points per outing for Madonna while Deric Murray chips in 11.2 points per night.

Schedule Updates: Lourdes will make up its Nov. 19 postponement at Cornerstone on Dec. 15 with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. in Grand Rapids, Mich.  The Gray Wolves' game that was slated for New Year's Eve against Windsor has been moved to Jan. 3 with a 1 p.m. tip time.  

Holifield Nets Game-Winner: Joey Holifield went the length of the floor before hitting a 12-footer in the lane on Saturday afternoon as Lourdes rallied from 10 points down to defeat Lawrence Tech.

Harris an All-Around Leader: Jackie Harris has led Lourdes in both scoring and rebounding this season.  He has tallied 16.5 points per game, and has scored in double figures in all 10 contests this season and 19 straight games dating back to last year.  Harris is also pulling down 7.0 rebounds per outing, and has a pair of double-doubles this season.

Making Free Throws: Joey Holifield has led Lourdes at the free throw line this season, shooting 85.3% (29-of-34).  He was a perfect 11-for-11 in the win over St. Francis (Ill.) on Saturday and went 15-of-15 overall on the weekend.

Anderson Nearing 1,000 Career Points: Little Anderson enters the week with 950 career points, needing just 50 more to reach 1,000 for his career at Lourdes.  The senior has averaged 10.8 points per game during his four years with the Gray Wolves.  Anderson will become just the third 1,000-point scorer in program history, joining Clif Snow (currently with 1,564 points) and Zach Steinmetz (2013-2016) who finished his career with 1,395 points.

From Long Range: Brett Lauf went a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range last Wednesday against Aquinas on his was to an 8-of-9 shooting night overall while finishing with 20 points.  Lauf has eight triples on the year, half of which came in the game against the Saints.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has handed out more assists than then number of turnovers they have committed this year.  The Gray Wolves have 133 assists, led by Brett Lauf who has 27, while committing just 120 turnovers (12.0 per game). 

Swat Team: Little Anderson blocked three Lawrence Tech shots on Saturday afternoon to take the team lead with 10 rejections this season, an average of one per game.  He now has 36 blocked shots in his career.

Getting to the Free Throw Line: Lourdes is shooting 72.3% as a team from the free throw line this season.  The Gray Wolves have made more free throws (125) than their opponents have even attempted (107).  The opposition is just 65.4% from the charity stripe this year.

Lighting Up the Scoreboard: Lourdes tallied a season-high 115 points in the win over East-West on Sunday, the fifth time since the start of the 2021-2022 season the Gray Wolves have surpassed the century mark.  Lourdes has scored 115 or more points four times in their last 40 games.  The 115 points was the most since the Gray Wolves tallied 117 in the win at Penn State-Shenango on Dec. 20, 2021.

Lourdes Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in third place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Cornerstone and just behind Madonna in the league balloting.  Indiana Tech is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2022-2023.

This and That: Clif Snow is 16 rebounds shy of 800 in his career at Lourdes  and three three-pointers away from 200 during his time with the Gray Wolves ... the Gray Wolves are outrebounding opponents by 4.8 boards per game and grabbing 10.4 offensive rebounds per game ... Lourdes has not played an overtime game since Feb. 5, 2020 against Michigan-Dearborn (lost 86-78).
