Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Having won five consecutive regular season games, Lourdes returns home to the Ebeid Rec Center for a pair of games this week. The Gray Wolves entertain Siena Heights on Wednesday night before hosting Cornerstone in a key Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference battle on Saturday afternoon.
Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Dennis Hopson is 67-30 (.691) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach. He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 16-8 series advantage against Siena Heights dating back to Nov. 12, 2011. The Gray Wolves have won seven straight games in the series after defeating the Saints 66-60 on Nov. 16 in Adrian, Mich. Lourdes is 4-2 all-time against Siena Heights inside the Ebeid Rec Center. The Gray Wolves are 4-21 against Cornerstone in a series that began Dec. 10, 2011. Lourdes won this season's first meeting 75-66 on Dec. 15 in Grand Rapids, Mich., snapping an 11-game road losing streak in the series. The Golden Eagles hold a 4-2 series edge in games played inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes rallied from a 13-point deficit on Wednesday evening (Jan. 11) to defeat 11th-ranked Indiana Tech 85-83 at home.
Joey Holifield tallied 30 points while
Clif Snow added 18 more to go along with nine rebounds. On Saturday (Jan. 14), three Gray Wolves posted double-doubles as Lourdes defeated Michigan-Dearborn 95-85. Snow had 27 points and 13 rebounds off the bench while
Jackie Harris tallied 24 points and 11 boards. Holifield had 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have dropped three straight games after falling 59-51 at home against Aquinas on Saturday (Jan. 14). Delano Williams paces Siena Heights scoring 18.4 points per game while Curtis Bell III has tallied 15.1 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per night. Davin Walker has added 12.5 points per game while Muhammed Zoure chips in 11.3 points per night.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week having defeated Northwestern Ohio 90-69 on Saturday (Jan. 14). Cornerstone travels to Madonna on Wednesday before facing the Gray Wolves. Cory Ainsworth leads the Golden Eagles in both scoring and rebounding, tallying 18.1 points and 7.8 boards per contest. Carter Nyp adds 15.3 points per game while Luke Rowlinson has tallied 14.7 points per night. Eli Steffen gives the Golden Eagles four players scoring in double figures, chipping in 10.4 points per game.
Snow Earns WHAC Honors: For the third time in four weeks, Lourdes has had a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Clif Snow earned the honor after averaging 22.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in the wins over Indiana Tech and Michigan-Dearborn. He show 57.7% from the floor. The honor was the fourth of Snow's career.
Picking Up a Ranked Win: The victory over 11th-ranked Indiana Tech was the 14th all-time win for the Gray Wolves against a NAIA top-25 foe. Lourdes is 6-3 in its last night games against ranked competition, dating back to November of 2019.
Double the Trouble: Lourdes had three players register double-doubles in the same game on Saturday against Michigan-Dearborn.
Jackie Harris had his team-leading sixth double-double of the year with 24 points and 11 rebounds while
Clif Snow notched his second of the year with 27 points and 13 boards.
Joey Holifield tallied his first double-double in 2022-2023 with a 12-point, 13-rebound performance. In all, Lourdes has had 10 double-doubles this year.
Among the League Leaders: Joey Holifield and
Jackie Harris has moved into the top-five in the WHAC in scoring this season. Holifield is fourth at 16.5 points per game while Harris ranks fifth in the conference at 16.3 points per night.
A Pair of 1,000-Point Scorers: Earlier this season,
Little Anderson became just the third player in program history to reach 1,000 points for his career at Lourdes. The senior enters play this week with 1,076 career points, third most in program history.
Clif Snow was the second Gray Wolf in program history to reach the milestone, doing so during the 2020-2021 campaign and enters this weekend with a school-record 1,667 career points.
Snow Sets Rebounding Record: Clif Snow became Lourdes University's all-time leading rebounder with five boards against Rochester (Mich.) on Jan. 7. Earlier this year he became just the second Gray Wolf in program history to reach the 800-board plateau and broke the program record of 825 boards set by Zach Steinmetz (2013-2016). Snow enters the week with 848 rebounds in his five seasons with the Gray Wolves.
Lourdes Tabbed Third in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in third place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just ahead of Cornerstone and just behind Madonna in the league balloting. Indiana Tech is the favorite to win the WHAC in 2022-2023.
This and That: Clif Snow has surpassed 200 career three-point field goals ...
