Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes concludes its season-opening four-game homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play hosting Siena Heights.  Lourdes will then hit the road for the first time during the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Michigan-Dearborn for an afternoon tilt.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fifth season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 78-34 (.696) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 17-8 all-time advantage against Siena Heights in a series that began Nov. 12, 2011.  The Gray Wolves have won eight consecutive games against the Saints after sweeping last year's meetings.  Lourdes was a 66-60 winner in Adrian, Mich. before posting an 82-62 triumph inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes is 5-2 against Siena Heights inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  The Gray Wolves are 15-7 in the all-time series against Michigan-Dearborn dating back to Jan. 14, 2012.  Lourdes has won the last four games against the Wolverines after posting wins of 95-55 and 95-85 last season.  Michigan-Dearborn leads the series 6-3 in Dearborn, Mich. but the two schools have not met on the Wolverines' home floor since Dec. 4, 2019.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 75-72 in overtime on Saturday afternoon inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Joey Holifield scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Shaunn Monroe chipped in 20 points.  Jakiel Wells scored 16 points off the bench and Jackie Harris added 14 more for the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have been idle since a season-opening 68-63 victory on the road at Ohio Christian on Nov. 4.  Delano Williams led Siena Heights in the win with 20 points while Brent Wiles added 13 more.  Shawn Brown chipped in 11 points and Colin Nutter had 10 points as the Saints had four players finish in double figures.  Williams, Brown, and Nutter all grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the game.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines snapped a two-game losing skid on Saturday with a 91-86 win on the road at Indiana-Northwest.  Michigan-Dearborn plays an exhibition game at Hillsdale on Thursday before hosting Lourdes.  Jackson Reynolds leads the Wolverines averaging 22.0 points per game this season while Joshua Warren has added 16.5 points per night.  Jimmy Breaux chips in 16.3 and grabs a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game.

Cracking the Top-25: Lourdes enters the week ranked 24th in the latest NAIA top-25 coaches' poll.  This marks the first time the Gray Wolves have been ranked in men's basketball since the NAIA merged from two divisions into one prior to the 2020-2021 season.  The last time Lourdes was ranked was Feb. 19, 2020 when the Gray Wolves check in at 23rd in the NAIA Division II poll.  The highest Lourdes has ever been ranked was 13th during the 2019-2020 season.  The next poll will be released on Nov. 29.

WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 5-7 in program history in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference openers.  The Gray Wolves have dropped two straight league openers after falling 60-41 at Concordia (Mich.) last season.  Lourdes last won a WHAC opener on Jan. 16, 2021 against Northwestern Ohio as part of the shortened COVID-19 season.  The Gray Wolves have never faced Siena Heights in their WHAC opener.

Looking for Program's Best Start: Lourdes has matched the best start in program history with a 3-0 record this season.  The Gray Wolves also went 3-0 to begin the 2015-2016 campaign.  A win against Siena Heights would make Lourdes 4-0 for the first time in school history.

Holifield Notches Double-Double: Joey Holifield registered his fourth career double-double on Saturday afternoon, and the second by a Gray Wolf this season.  The Lourdes senior scored 21 points while pulling down 11 rebounds while playing all 45 minutes.  Ethan Damerum had the team's other double-double this season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 boards against Olivet.

Filling the Cylinder: Jackie Harris has been off to a strong start for the Gray Wolves offensively, averaging 26.7 points per game.  The fifth-year senior is shooting 56.6% from the floor, including a blistering 50% (15-of-30) from three-point range.

Bench Production: Jakiel Wells entered the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods game having scored just two points in his first two games with the Gray Wolves.  The junior transfer played 38 minutes against the Pomeroys on Saturday, scoring 16 points off the bench, making 7-of-12 shots from the floor.

Monroe Solid All-Around: Shaunn Monroe stuffed the stat sheet against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, scoring a season-high 20 points.  He was 6-for-7 from the free throw line and added five steals and four rebounds in 40 minutes of action.

Lourdes Tabbed WHAC Preseason Favorite: The Gray Wolves were selected to win the WHAC regular season title this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes collected four first place votes and was picked just ahead of Rochester (Mich.) and Indiana Tech in the league balloting.

This and That: Lourdes is 208-180 all-time in the program's 14th season ... last season was the Gray Wolves fourth NAIA National Championship appearance and second consecutive (along with 2012 and 2013) ... the Gray Wolves improved to 6-14 all-time in overtime contests with the win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
