#24 Lourdes Looks to Remain Unbeaten Hosting Ohio Christian

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Off to its best start in program history, 24th-ranked Lourdes plays its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday evening.  The Gray Wolves welcome Ohio Christian to the Ebeid Rec Center in search of their sixth consecutive victory to begin the year.

Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fifth season on the Lourdes bench, Dennis Hopson is 80-34 (.702) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach.  He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Ohio Christian are meeting on the hardwood for the first time in men's basketball on Tuesday evening.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday with an 84-53 victory over Siena Heights at home.  Jackie Harris led the Gray Wolves with 25 points while Shaunn Monroe added 18 more.  On Saturday, Lourdes took to the road for the first time this season, defeating Michigan-Dearborn 96-70.  Harris had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Joey Holifield added 19 points.

Scouting Ohio Christian: The Trailblazers enter the game coming off an 81-70 victory on the road at Great Lakes Christian on Saturday afternoon.  Levi Seiler leads Ohio Christian averaging 20.4 points per game while grabbing 8.1 rebounds per contest.  Jimmy Salamone adds 9.9 points per outing for Ohio Christian.

Facing the RSC: Lourdes is playing its second River States Conference opponent of the season on Tuesday when its faces Ohio Christian.  Earlier this year Lourdes was a 75-72 winner in overtime against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.  All-time, the Gray Wolves are 8-5 against current members of the RSC.  In addition to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Lourdes has faced Point Park (4-0), Rio Grande (2-1), Indiana East  (1-1), Brescia (0-1), and Shawnee State (0-2).

Cracking the Top-25: Lourdes enters the week ranked 24th in the latest NAIA top-25 coaches' poll.  This marks the first time the Gray Wolves have been ranked in men's basketball since the NAIA merged from two divisions into one prior to the 2020-2021 season.  The last time Lourdes was ranked was Feb. 19, 2020 when the Gray Wolves check in at 23rd in the NAIA Division II poll.  The highest Lourdes has ever been ranked was 13th during the 2019-2020 season.  The next poll will be released on Nov. 29.

Harris Garners WHAC Honors: Jackie Harris was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks after his effort last week.  He averaged 23 points and eight rebounds in the two games.  Harris tallied 25 points, making 5-of-9 from three-point range, against Siena Heights before posting a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds against Michigan-Dearborn.

Program's Best Start: Lourdes has posted the best start in program history with a 5-0 record this season.  Prior to this season, Lourdes had never started a season better than 3-0, which occurred in the 2015-2016 campaign.  Lourdes has started a season 5-1 three previous times, in the 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2018-2019 seasons. 

Making Shots: Lourdes is shooting 50% from the field through five games this season.  Jakiel Wells and Ethan Damerum are both connecting at a 57.1% clip while Nic Borojevic is shooting 55.0% overall, including 46.2% (6-of-13) from three-point range.  Shaunn Monroe is a 53.7% shooter on the year while Jackie Harris is connecting at a 51.6% clip, including 45.8% (22-of-48) from beyond the arc.

More Double-Doubles: Through five games, Lourdes has had three different players tally double-doubles.  Jackie Harris is the latest to accomplish the feat, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 boards at Michigan-Dearborn.  For Harris, it was his 10th career double-double with the Gray Wolves.  Joey Holifield scored 21 points while pulling down 11 rebounds in the win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods while  Ethan Damerum had 12 points and grabbing 12 boards against Olivet.

Taking Care of the Basketball: Lourdes has committed just 69 turnovers this season while forcing 100 from its opponents, 58 of which have come via steals.  The Gray Wolves are +6.2 in turnover margin on the year.  Lourdes has eight players with a 1:1 or better assist-to-turnover ratio, led by Jakiel Wells who has 22 assists and just 11 miscues.

Lourdes Tabbed WHAC Preseason Favorite: The Gray Wolves were selected to win the WHAC regular season title this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes collected four first place votes and was picked just ahead of Rochester (Mich.) and Indiana Tech in the league balloting.  

This and That: Lourdes is 209-180 all-time in the program's 14th season ... last season was the Gray Wolves fourth NAIA National Championship appearance and second consecutive (along with 2012 and 2013) ... the Gray Wolves improved to 6-14 all-time in overtime contests with the win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods ... Lourdes is outscoring opponents 213-149 over the first 20 minutes ... the Gray Wolves are holding the opposition to just 25.0% shooting from three-point range.
