Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes continues defense of its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament title on Saturday afternoon at home. The second-seeded Gray Wolves entertain third-seeded Madonna in the quarterfinal round.
Head Coach Dennis Hopson: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Dennis Hopson is 75-32 (.701) with the Gray Wolves and as a men's collegiate head coach. He is only the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Madonna leads the all-time series against Lourdes 17-11 dating back to Nov. 6, 2010. The Gray Wolves have won two of the last three meetings between the two schools after splitting the regular season contests. The Crusaders won an 84-76 decision on Dec. 9 in Livonia, Mich. before the Gray Wolves scored an 96-87 win in the Ebeid Rec Center on Feb. 8. Madonna is 5-1 all-time against Lourdes inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
This Season's Previous Meetings: Madonna shot better than 50% from the floor and outscored Lourdes 38-24 in the paint in the first meeting on the way to an 84-76 victory in Livonia, Mich.
Joey Holifield scored 27 points for the Gray Wolves to lead all scorers while
Little Anderson added 12 points and
Stephen Coleman Jr. had 10 more. Mark Mettie led five Crusaders in double figures with 18 points while RJ Nunn and Blake Banks each added 12 points. In the rematch in the Ebeid Rec Center, Lourdes jumped out to a 47-34 halftime lead on the way to a 96-87 victory. Anderson had a game-high 24 points while
Jackie Harris added 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Joey Holifield scored 20 points and
Clif Snow chipped in 13 more for the Gray Wolves. Ethan Emerzian had 21 points to pace Madonna while Mettie and Henry Speight had 15 each as five Crusader tallied double figures.
Wrapping Up Quarterfinal Action: Lourdes made 20 three-point field goals and shot 57.7% from the floor and 57.1% from long range on Thursday as the Gray Wolves defeated Concordia (Mich.) 107-66 at home.
Jackie Harris had 33 points, including nine triples, while
Joey Holifield added 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting to go along with seven board and seven assists.
Little Anderson finished with 11 points in the win.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the semifinals having won four consecutive games after downing Lawrence Tech 89-63 at home in the quarterfinals on Thursday evening. Mark Mettie leads Madonna averaging 16.3 points per game while Henry Speight adds 14.4 points per contest. Brendan Young contributes 14.0 points per outing while also grabbing a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per night.
Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: After the quarterfinal win over Concordia (Mich.), Lourdes improved to 7-7 all-time in WHAC tournament play. The Gray Wolves are making their ninth overall appearance in the postseason event. Last year as the fourth-seed, Lourdes defeated Madonna 79-61 on the road to capture its first conference tournament title. Lourdes is 3-1 all-time in tournament games at home, including a 2-1 mark inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Best Finish Ever: Lourdes posted its best regular season finish in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference this season, finishing in second place. The Gray Wolves previous best finish was third in 2012-2013. Lourdes also tied for third place in both 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.
Reaching 20 Wins Again: The Gray Wolves have reached the 20-win plateau for the second consecutive season and third time in the last four years. Lourdes has now recorded four 20-win seasons in program history. The 22 wins the team currently has is tied with the 2021-2013 squad for the second most wins ever by a Lourdes squad. The school record of 24 victories was set last year when the Gray Wolves finished the season 24-8.
All-WHAC Honors: Joey Holifield became a two-time First Team All-WHAC selection this season while
Jackie Harris garnered First Team All-WHAC accolades for the first time in his career.
Little Anderson is now a three-time Second Team All-WHAC recipient and was also named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team.
Stephen Coleman Jr. represented the Gray Wolves on the All-Freshman Team.
Among the League Leaders: Jackie Harris ranks second in the WHAC this season averaging 17.5 points per game.
Joey Holifield checks in fifth in the conference scoring 17.0 points per game.
From Downtown: Jackie Harris leads the WHAC, and ranks third nationally, with 94 three-point field goals this season. His 3.2 triples per game are seventh among all NAIA players. Harris is shooting 41.6% from beyond the arc.
A Pair of 1,000-Point Scorers: Earlier this season,
Little Anderson became just the third player in program history to reach 1,000 points for his career at Lourdes. The senior enters the semifinals with 1,248 career points, third most in program history.
Clif Snow was the second Gray Wolf in program history to reach the milestone, doing so during the 2020-2021 campaign and enters the tournament with a school-record 1,776 career points.
Snow Sets Rebounding Record: Clif Snow is Lourdes University's all-time leading rebounder and the only Gray Wolf in program history to reach the 900-board plateau. Snow enters the semifinals with 920 rebounds in his five seasons with the Gray Wolves.

Little Anderson have started all 29 games this season ... Lourdes has not gone to overtime since Feb. 5, 2020 against Michigan-Dearborn ... the Gray Wolves are 13-3 at home this season and 64-30 all-time inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
