Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The 2023 regular season comes to a close this week for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves play host to a pair of opponents. Lourdes will entertain Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday evening before wrapping up the campaign on Saturday morning against Bethel (Ind.) for Senior Day.
Head Coach Sierra Wagoner: In her third season on the Lourdes sidelines,
Sierra Wagoner has a 5-22 (.185) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves and as a collegiate head coach. Wagoner is the fourth head coach in the program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Concordia (Mich.) have split their six previous meetings 3-3 dating back to March 25, 2017. The Cardinals have won three straight games against the Gray Wolves after defeating Lourdes 19-3 in Ann Arbor, Mich. last season. Concordia is 2-1 against the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium. Lourdes and Bethel (Ind.) are 2-2 in an all-time series that began March 15, 2018. The Pilots have won the last two meetings between the two sides after notching a 17-7 win at Wildcat Stadium last year. The series is tied 1-1 in Sylvania.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind 10-2 after one quarter and could not recover on Wednesday, dropping an 18-5 decision at Marian.
Amelia McCourt and
Sarah Przyojski each scored twice while
Maddie Wadesisi made 13 saves. Saturday, Indiana Tech built a 15-2 halftime lead on the way to a 22-7 victory over the Gray Wolves in Fort Wayne, Ind. Przyojski scored four times for the Gray Wolves while
Jordin Rawski had a pair of tallies. Wadesisi made three stops in the cage.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals snapped an eight-game losing skid on Saturday with a 16-14 victory at Madonna. Isabella Komarowski has scored a team-leading 18 goals and has 23 points while Madisyn Fox has 17 goals. Taylor Nesbitt has handed out 10 assists. In goal, Michaela Ullery has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 17.71 goals against average and a .362 save percentage.
Scouting Bethel (Ind.): The Pilots enter the week having dropped five straight games after a 20-10 setback at Aquinas on Saturday. Bethel hosts Marian on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Alyssa Lundy has a team-high 37 goals and 60 points while Kaley Butler has 34 tallies. Jenna Crockett has handed out a team-high 24 assists and has 44 points. Samantha Swope has played a majority of the time in goal with a 12.94 goals against average and a 12.94 save mark.
Thank You Kylie: Lourdes will honor its lone senior,
Kylie Turner, prior to Saturday's contest against Bethel (Ind.). Turner has played in 25 games entering the week over the past three seasons, scoring seven career goals and adding a pair of assists. This year she has four goals, two helpers, and nine ground balls.
Looking for a WHAC Tournament Berth: Lourdes enters the final week of the regular season still alive for a berth in next week's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament. The Gray Wolves must pick up two victories this season while also receiving some help from other schools to qualify for the postseason event.
Nearing the Single Season Charts: Amelia McCourt has scored 42 goals this season and tallied 48 total points. She is just four goals shy of fifth on the all-time single season list, currently occupied by Alyssa Long (2016). McCourt is six points shy of Long's fifth place total on the points list as well from that same season.
More Single Season Accolades: Jordin Rawski has picked up 39 ground balls this season while
Sarah Przyojski enters the final week of the season with 36. Both are nearing the top-five on the single season charts. Alyssa Long holds the fifth spot all-time with 43 ground balls during the 2018 season.
On the Career Charts: Amelia McCourt has moved into third on the career scoring charts at Lourdes. The sophomore now has 72 goals in just under two seasons. She is 28 goals behind Tiara Reed (2017-2019) for second on the career list. Her 84 career points tie her for third on the school's all-time list with Ashley Hunt (2017-2019), 46 behind Reed for second on the chart.
