Lourdes Reaches Midway Point of WHAC Slate

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball:  Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play reaches its midway point this week as the Gray Wolves play a pair of home games.  Lourdes entertains nationally-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday night to complete round one of league play before hosting Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday to begin the second half of conference action.

Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her third season on the Lourdes bench, Tandy Bradford sports a 24-50 (.324) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 45-109 (.292) career mark.  She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Indiana Tech holds a 25-1 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 7, 2012.  The Warriors have won 22 straight against the Gray Wolves after winning all three meetings between the schools last season.  Indiana Tech posted an 84-41 win in the Ebeid Rec Center and an 81-66 victory in Fort Wayne, Ind. during the regular season before scoring an 85-52 triumph in Fort Wayne in the quarterfinals of the WHAC Tournament. Indian Tech is 7-0 in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Michigan-Dearborn holds a 13-10 edge against Lourdes in a series that began Jan. 14, 2012.  The Gray Wolves won the first meeting this year 76-61 in Dearborn, Mich. on Nov. 18.  The Wolverines hold a 4-2 series edge all-time inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  

Wrapping Up Last Week: Cleary used a second half rally to defeat Lourdes 74-70 on Wednesday evening (Jan. 10) in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Nadeen Jemaa led Lourdes with 21 points while Macie Stringfellow added 13 more.  On Saturday (Jan. 13), Rochester (Mich.) downed the Gray Wolves 88-78 in Rochester Hills, Mich.  Emma Pedroza had a team-high 17 points while Shae Pedroza added 12 more.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won four straight games after defeating Concordia (Mich.) 61-34 on Saturday (Jan. 13).  Erika Foy leads Indiana Tech averaging 16.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while Genevieve Decker adds 10.7 points per night.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines enter the week having dropped 14 straight games after falling 82-59 at Northwestern Ohio on Saturday (Jan. 13).  Michigan-Dearborn hosts Cleary on Wednesday before heading to Lourdes.  Maya Barakat leads the Wolverines averaging 14.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game this season.  India Grissom has added 11.5 points per night.
 
Nearing 1,000: Shae Pedroza enters the week with 953 career points, just 47 shy of becoming just the third Gray Wolf in program history to reach 1,000 wearing the terra cotta and black.  Pedroza has averaged 10.7 points per game for the Gray Wolves over the course of her four years at Lourdes.  Lauren Tilden (2011-2015) is the all-time leading scorer with 1,302 career points while Jesse Fidler (2014-2017) tallied 1,001 points.

Jemaa Nets Career High: Nadeen Jemaa tallied a career-high with her 21 points last Wednesday against Cleary.  She went 7-of-14 from three-point range in just 23 minutes of action.  Jemaa's previous career best was 20 points earlier this season as part of a double-double at Aquinas.

Sisters Pacing the Offense: Shae Pedroza and Emma Pedroza have paced the Gray Wolf offense this season averaging 11.6 and 11.3 points per game respectively.  Shae has scored in double figures eight times this year, including a pair of 20-point performances while Emma has scored 10 or more points in 10 different games.

Crashing the Glass: Macie Stringfellow has led Lourdes in rebounding this year, pulling down 8.0 boards per contest.  She has grabbed six or more boards in 13 of her 15 games this season.  Halle Barnett has added 6.3 rebounds per contest.  Barnett leads the team with 43 offensive rebounds per contest (2.9/game) and has grabbed four or more offensive caroms in seven different games.

From the Charity Stripe: Shae Pedroza has missed just one free throw this entire season (27-of-28) and is shooting at a 96.4% clip on the year.  She is one make shy of qualifying for the NAIA leaderboard (2.0 makes per game required).  As a team, Lourdes had its best night of the year at the charity stripe on Saturday, connecting at an 86.7% (26-of-30) clip at Rochester (Mich.).

Mixing Up the Lineup: Not one player has started all 15 games this season for the Gray Wolves.  Shae Pedroza has started all 14 contests in which she has appeared though. Emma Pedroza, Macie Stringfellow, and Halle Barnett each have drawn 12 starting assignments.  Six different Gray Wolves have at least 11 starts.

Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just behind Rochester (Mich.) and just ahead of Lawrence Tech in the balloting.  Indiana Tech was tabbed as the unanimous preseason favorite.

This and That: The Gray Wolves are 4-4 all-time in overtime contests after falling to Ohio Christian on Nov. 21 ... Shae Pedroza played all 40 minutes at Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday ... Lourdes is outscoring teams 524-463 in the first half this season but has been outscored 590-522 after halftime.
