Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes rings in 2024 playing five of its first six games inside the Ebeid Rec Center including its first three contests of the year. The Gray Wolves return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, hosting Lawrence Tech, before entertaining Madonna on Friday night.
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her third season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports a 23-47 (.329) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 44-106 (.293) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lawrence Tech holds a 17-4 all-time series edge against Lourdes dating back to Nov. 17, 2012. The Blue Devils have won four straight games against the Gray Wolves after sweeping last year's series 56-52 in the Ebeid Rec Center and 68-64 in Southfield, Mich. Lawrence Tech holds a 6-1 series edge in games played in the Ebeid Rec Center. Madonna is 13-10 against the Gray Wolves in a series that began Jan. 11, 2012. Lourdes has won the last three meetings between the two schools though, downing the Crusaders 72-61 in Livonia, Mich. and 75-53 in the Ebeid Rec Center last season. Lourdes is 6-0 all-time against Madonna inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Recent Weeks: Lourdes closed out non-conference play on Dec. 18 with an 82-32 victory on the road at future WHAC member Defiance.
Emma Pedroza tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds while
Halle Barnett added 10 points. The Gray Wolves returned to action on Dec. 30 with an exhibition game at Findlay, falling to the Oilers 86-53.
Shae Pedroza had a team-high 17 points while
Taylor Thomas added 14 more.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils enter 2024 having dropped a 67-49 decision at Ave Maria last Friday (Dec. 29). Jade Farris is the only Lawrence Tech player averaging in double figures in scoring, tallying 10.6 points per game while pulling down a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per night. Dede Smith adds 9.3 points per night for the Blue Devils.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the week coming off an 87-77 win at Great Lakes Christian last Saturday (Dec. 30). Aaliyah McQueen leads Madonna in scoring averaging 14.9 points per game while Kayiona Willis adds 12.7 points per night. Keairra Jennings chips in 12.3 points per game for the Crusaders. On the glass, LaZae Mosley is grabbing a team-best 6.6 rebounds per night.
Pedroza Earns WHAC Player of the Week Honors: Emma Pedroza was named the WHAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Dec. 26 for her efforts in the victory at Defiance. She registered her second double-double of the season with a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action. She also handed out four assists and had three steals while shooting 7-of-12 from the floor. Pedroza also had a double-double this season against Ohio Christian, scoring 14 points and adding 13 boards.
Sharing the Wealth: All 13 players that saw action in the victory at Defiance found the scoring column for the Gray Wolves, with each scoring at least three points.
Kambry Edwards and
Ashley Zawisza both scored their first collegiate points and were two of four Gray Wolves to score for the first time in 2023-2024.
Thomas Shines in Exhibition Game: Taylor Thomas was 5-of-7 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc, on Saturday in the exhibition contest at Findlay. Thomas scored 14 points for the Gray Wolves off the bench while playing a team-high 35 minutes.
A Balanced Offensive Attack: Lourdes has six players averaging between 8.0 and 11.1 points per game this season.
Shae Pedroza has led the way for the Gray Wolves tallying 11.1 points per night both
Emma Pedroza (10.3 ppg) and
Nakiya Sigman (10.1 ppg) are scoring in double figures as well.
Macie Stringfellow has added 8.9 points per night while
Halle Barnett and
Nadeen Jemaa check in at 8.2 and 8.0 points per game respectively.
Reaching 900: Shae Pedroza surpassed 900 career points with her last basket at Defiance on Dec. 18. She leads all Gray Wolf players with 901 points over the last four years in a Gray Wolf uniform. Pedroza has averaged 10.6 points per game for the Gray Wolves over the course of her career.
Mixing Up the Lineup: Not one player has started all 11 games this season for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Rochester (Mich.) and just ahead of Lawrence Tech in the balloting. Indiana Tech was tabbed as the unanimous preseason favorite.
