Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes heads into the final month of the season having won two of its last three games. The Gray Wolves travel north to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday night before returning to the Ebeid Rec Center on Saturday afternoon to host Northwestern Ohio in search of their third straight victory at home.
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her third season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports a 26-52 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 47-111 (.297) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Concordia (Mich.) holds a 24-2 advantage in the all-time series against Lourdes dating back to Oct. 27, 2011. The Cardinals have won 11 straight in the series after scoring a 49-48 victory inside the Ebeid Rec Center on Dec. 16. Concordia is 12-1 against the Gray Wolves in Ann Arbor, Mich. Northwestern Ohio is 15-10 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began Jan. 18, 2012. The Gray Wolves have won the last two meetings against the Racers though after notching a 77-74 victory in Lima, Ohio on Dec. 2. Lourdes holds a 4-3 series edge in games played inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Siena Heights had five players finish in double figures last Wednesday (Jan. 24) as the Saints defeated the Gray Wolves 71-53 in Adrian, Mich.
Emma Pedroza led Lourdes with 18 points while
Tamyah Worthy added 10 more, both coming off the bench. On Saturday (Jan. 27), Lourdes rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat Aquinas 81-67.
Shae Pedroza scored a team-high 14 points while
Halle Barnett and
Macie Stringfellow each added 13 points.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals have won three of their last four games after defeating Concordia (Ill.) 81-37 in the consolation game of the Concordia Invitational on Saturday. Abby Long leads Concordia averaging 16.3 points per game while Taylor Leatherman adds 14.8 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per night.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers enter the week having won four of their last five games after defeating Cleary 52-45 on Saturday. Northwestern Ohio hosts Madonna on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. Alysia Lawson leads the Racers averaging 21.8 points per game this season. Alycia Patterson adds 13.5 points per night while Alayha Allen is pulling down a team-high 10.4 rebounds per contest.
Nearing 1,000: Shae Pedroza enters the week with 995 career points, just five shy of becoming just the third Gray Wolf in program history to reach 1,000 points wearing the terra cotta and black. Pedroza has averaged 10.7 points per game for the Gray Wolves over the course of her four years at Lourdes. Lauren Tilden (2011-2015) is the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,302 career points while Jesse Fidler (2014-2017) tallied 1,001 points.
Quite a Comeback: Lourdes rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat Aquinas by that same number on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Senior Day. The win was the first for the Gray Wolves when trailing at halftime since Jan. 8, 2022 when Lourdes rallied for a win at Michigan-Dearborn. The victory on Saturday snapped a 32-game losing skid when trailing at the half.
Worthy Nets Career High: Tamyah Worthy posted her first collegiate double figure scoring game last Wednesday, scoring 10 points on the road at Siena Heights. The redshirt-freshman's previous best was nine points at Mount Vernon Nazarene last season. Worthy also tied her career high with seven rebounds at Siena Heights, matching her total from the Mount Vernon Nazarene game last year.
Moving Up the Standings: With the victory over Aquinas on Saturday, Lourdes jumped into a three-way tie for seventh place in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. Seventh through 11th place is separated by just one game while the Gray Wolves are also just two games out of fifth. Lourdes is tied with Madonna and Aquinas at 5-9 in league play.
Sisters Pacing the Offense: Emma Pedroza and
Shae Pedroza have paced the Gray Wolf offense this season. Emma leads the way at 11.5 points per game and has scored in double figures in 11 of the 19 games this year. Shae has scored in double figures 10 times this year, including a pair of 20-point performances, and is second on the team tallying 11.4 points per night.
Getting to the Glass: Macie Stringfellow and
Halle Barnett have been a force on the boards all season long for the Gray Wolves, averaging nearly 14 rebounds per game between them. Stringfellow leads the way with 7.6 boards per night while Barnett is grabbing 6.3 caroms. Barnett has a team-high 55 offensive rebounds (2.9/game).
Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Rochester (Mich.) and just ahead of Lawrence Tech in the balloting. Indiana Tech was tabbed as the unanimous preseason favorite.
