Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes reaches the midway point of the 2023-2024 regular season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves conclude their three-game homestand hosting Cleary. Lourdes then takes to the road for the first time this calendar year on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Rochester (Mich.).
Head Coach Tandy Bradford: In her third season on the Lourdes bench,
Tandy Bradford sports a 24-48 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her fifth season overall as a collegiate head coach, Bradford has a 45-107 (.296) career mark. She is the fifth head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Cleary are meeting on the hardwood for the first time ever on Wednesday evening as the Cougars are a first year program in 2023-2024. Rochester (Mich.) holds a 13-2 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Jan. 23, 2012. The Warriors have won the last four meetings between the two schools after sweeping last year's season series with a 70-61 win in the Ebeid Rec Center and a 93-78 victory in Rochester Hills, Mich. Rochester holds a 6-1 edge all-time in Rochester Hills.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes jumped out to an 11-point lead at halftime on Wednesday (Jan. 3) on the way to a 65-62 triumph over Lawrence Tech at home.
Shae Pedroza led all scorers with 22 points while
Emma Pedroza added 14 more.
Halle Barnett tallied a double-double with 10 points and 15 boards. On Friday (Jan. 5), Madonna snapped the Gray Wolves' two-game winning streak with a 79-62 win in the Ebeid Rec Center.
Emma Pedroza led Lourdes with 16 points while Barnett and
Macie Stringfellow each added 10 points.
Scouting Cleary: The Cougars have dropped five straight games after falling 78-39 at Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon. Taedom Stein leads Cleary in scoring averaging 11.3 points per game this season. Mileisha Rodriguez has added 10.7 points per contest while pulling down a team-high 8.3 rebounds per night.
Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the week having dropped back-to-back games following a 79-44 setback at Indiana Tech on Saturday (Jan. 6). Rochester travels to Cornerstone on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Celeste Mershimer leads the Warriors averaging 13.2 points per game this season while Jacey Somers has added 12.8 points per night. On the glass, Melanie Moore is pulling down a team-high 7.9 rebounds per contest for Rochester.
Barnett Has Big Week: Halle Barnett averaged a double-double in the two games last week, tallying 10 points and 10 rebounds per game. She scored 10 points against both Lawrence Tech and Madonna while pulling down a career-high 15 boards against the Blue Devils in the win last Wednesday. The double-double was the first of Barnett's career. She has scored in double figures in five of the last six games overall.
Sisters Pacing the Offense: Shae Pedroza and
Emma Pedroza have paced the Gray Wolf offense this season averaging 11.6 and 11.0 points per game respectively. Shae tallied her second 20-point game of the season on Wednesday against Lawrence Tech with 22 points. Emma scored a season-high 16 points against Madonna on Saturday and has eight double figure scoring games this season, including a pair of double-doubles.
Taking Care of the Basketball: Nadeen Jemaa and
Emma Pedroza both have protected the basketball this season. Jemaa is tied for the team lead with 24 assists this season while committing just nine turnovers. Pedroza has handed out 21 helpers while committing just 15 miscues.
Getting Defensive: Macie Stringfellow has led the Lourdes defensive attack this season. She leads the team with 103 rebounds (7.9 per game) and has a team-high 21 steals on the year. In addition, she has blocked 12 shots while the rest of the Gray Wolves have just 14 rejections combined.
Nearing 1,000: Shae Pedroza enters the week with 929 career points, just 71 shy of becoming just the third Gray Wolf in program history to reach 1,000 wearing the terra cotta and black. Pedroza has averaged 10.7 points per game for the Gray Wolves over the course of her four years at Lourdes. Lauren Tilden (2011-2015) is the all-time leading scorer with 1,302 career points while Jesse Fidler (2014-2017) tallied 1,001 points.
Mixing Up the Lineup: Not one player has started all 13 games this season for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Lourdes was picked just behind Rochester (Mich.) and just ahead of Lawrence Tech in the balloting. Indiana Tech was tabbed as the unanimous preseason favorite.
