LIVONIA, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University men's and women's cross country teams were well-represented in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) postseason awards, with athletes on both the men's and women's teams recognized for their achievements in competition, character, and academics.
On the women's team, Jenna Ramsey earned Second Team All-WHAC honors after a strong performance at the WHAC Championship, where she completed the 6k in 22:47.93, a program-record. Senior Olivia Waterstradt received the Champions of Character award for her leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to the team, and was also named to the Academic All-Conference team. Joining her on the Academic All-Conference list were teammates Jenna Ramsey, Madelynn Dubois, A'Maya Hodges, and Isabella Leen, each honored for balancing athletic commitments with academic excellence.
For the men's team, Jacob Newland was recognized with the Champions of Character award, celebrating his integrity and commitment to the values of Lourdes University and the WHAC. Additionally, five Gray Wolves earned Academic All-Conference accolades: Justin Altenbach, Maddox Altman, Thomas Destatte, Liam LeBlanc, and Layton Wilson, whose dedication in the classroom complements their efforts on the course.
The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the WHAC Championships on Nov. 7. The men's team finished 9th with 257 points, while the women's team placed 8th with 190 points. Top women's teams included Cornerstone, Aquinas, and Madonna, while Aquinas, Cornerstone, and Indiana Tech led on the men's side.
