Lourdes University had three men and five women earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in track and field the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced.
Maddox Altman (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.),
Liam LeBlanc (Macomb, Mich./Henry Ford H.S.), and
Layton Willson (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon H.S.) has all been named a NAIA Scholar-Athlete in men's track and field while
Hailey Bahnsen (Sandusky, Ohio/Saint Mary Central Catholic H.S.),
Madelynn DuBois (Sylvania, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.),
Laurynn Garcia (McAllen, Texas/Rowe H.S.),
A'maya Hodges (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) and
Paige Thomas (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) all earned the honor in women's track and field.
This is the second time that Willson, DuBois, Garcia, and Thomas have earned the honor while Altman, LeBlanc, Bahnsen, and Hodges are first time honorees.
A total of 873 student-athletes throughout the NAIA were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes this season in men's track and field and 1,203 student-athletes garnered the accolade in women's track and field.
In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution.
