Fairley Earns Second WHAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor This Season

Sophomore guard’s 35-point performance leads Lourdes to home victory over Rochester Christian.

For the second time in the young 2025–26 campaign, Derek Fairley (Cleveland, Ohio/Lutheran West) has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Fairley earned the honor after delivering another signature performance, scoring 35 points in Lourdes University's 83–78 victory over Rochester Christian University last Tuesday. The sophomore guard shot 11-of-21 from the floor, knocked down three triples, and went 10-of-13 at the free-throw line, while also adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a full 40-minute effort.

His deep, contested three at the halftime buzzer swung momentum toward the Gray Wolves, and he continued to control the game throughout the second half as Lourdes improved to 7–1 overall.

"Derek continues to elevate not just his own game, but our entire team," head coach Jake DuPree said. "His competitiveness, poise, and ability to take over when we need him most make him one of the top guards in this league. We're proud of the work he's putting in and the consistency he's showing night after night."

Fairley, who also won the award on Opening Week after a pair of 30-point performances at the Grand Rapids Classic, is now averaging over 25 points per game while shooting efficiently from all three levels. His steady playmaking and defensive pressure have also become defining elements of Lourdes' early-season success.

Lourdes returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 3, traveling to Defiance College for a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m. inside the Karl H. Weaner Center.
