SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The No. 2-seeded Lourdes University men's basketball team is set to host No. 7 University of Northwestern Ohio in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves finished the regular season at 21-7 overall and 15-5 in WHAC play, securing the second seed in the conference standings, while the Racers posted a 14-13 overall record and 10-10 mark in WHAC action to claim the seventh seed.

Scouting Lourdes University
Lourdes enters the WHAC Tournament as one of the league's top teams, boasting a high-powered offense and a strong defensive presence. The Gray Wolves average 79.0 points per game while shooting 48.5% from the field and 36.6% from beyond the arc. Defensively, Lourdes allows just 71.4 points per contest and holds opponents to 47.2% shooting.

Players to Watch:

• Shaunn Monroe (G, Sr.) – Monroe has been both an offensive and defensive leader for the Gray Wolves, averaging 23.2 points per game, the highest in the WHAC, and recently surpassed 1,000 career points in just two seasons.
• Derrell Jones (G, Sr.) – Jones contributes 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while providing key defensive efforts.
• Derek Fairley (G, Sr.) – Fairley adds depth to the backcourt with 8.8 points per game and is shooting 43.3% from three-point range.

Lourdes has been dominant at home, holding an 12-1 record inside the Ebeid Recreation Center this season.

UNOH enters the tournament looking to pull off an upset after closing the regular season with a 14-13 record in their regular-season games. The Racers topped UM-Dearborn in the play-in game, 86-74 to advance in the tournament. The team averages 86.0 points per game while shooting 45.9% from the floor and 33.2% from beyond the arc. On defense, they allow 82.6 points per game and a 45.2% opponent shooting percentage.

Players to Watch:

• Ryan Archey (G): Archey leads the Racers with 20.2 points per game, shooting 47.1% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range. He also contributes 3.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
• Antonio King (G): A key contributor, King averages 16.7 points per game, shooting 46.3% from the field and 82.8% from the free-throw line.
• Alex Benson (G): Benson adds 10.7 points per game, shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc and 82.1% from the free-throw line.

The winner of Thursday's quarterfinal will advance to the WHAC semifinals on Saturday, March 1, against the highest remaining seed.
