Pedroza and Worthy Sweep WHAC Weekly Awards

Pedroza won offensive honors and Worthy won defensive honors

SYLVANIA, Ohio - Emma Pedroza and Tamyah Worthy both won weekly WHAC awards for women's basketball, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Pedroza won the offensive award for the second consecutive week and for the 3rd time this season, tying Derek Fairley for the most amongst all Lourdes basketball players this year. She scored 25 points with six rebounds and five assists in the Gray Wolves win over Madonna last Wednesday. Pedroza then contributed a 20 point, 11 rebound double-double in Lourdes' win over Michigan Dearborn on Saturday.

Pedroza is averaging 20.4 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 4.4 assists per game. She leads the team in rebounds and assists and is 2nd on the team in points.

Worthy won the defensive award for her ability to force turnovers in both games last week. She got four steals in the win over Madonna and tied her season-high with six steals against Michigan-Dearborn. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds per game last week.

Worthy is averaging 6.2 rebounds per game this season, good for second on the team only to Pedroza. Tamyah's 3.2 steals per game ranks 2nd in the WHAC and 24th in the nation.

Pedroza, Worthy, and the rest of the Lourdes women's basketball team will take on Defiance tomorrow at 7:30pm as part of National Women in Sports Day.
