The Lourdes University Gray Wolves took to Mercy Field in double header action on Sunday afternoon against the Panthers of Davenport University. The Gray Wolves were looking to try and get a split in the series after dropping both games on Saturday afternoon 6-1 and 5-0.
Lourdes started out the game as the visiting team in game 3 of the matchup per Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference rules. The Gray Wolves jumped on the board early with Garrett Jex getting a deep fly double to right field. Garrett wouldn't have to wait long though as he would come in to score on an Andy Kefalos single.

The lead wouldn't last for long though as the Panthers put 2 runs on the board in the bottom half of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead.
After giving up 2 more runs in the bottom of the 2
nd inning the Gray Wolves put on their rally caps and scratched out another run in top of the 3
rd inning with Nick Mazgay striping a lead-off double to right center. Mazgay moved to third base on a pass ball and eventually scored on an Andy Kefalos single to make the score 4-2.
The turning point of the game happened when the Panthers went on a 6-0 run in the fifth inning. At the end of the first game the Gray Wolves trailed 12-2. Nick Mazgay and Garrett Jex were the only two players to score for the Gray Wolves.
The second game of the day would also go to the Panthers. The Gray Wolves fought hard but came up short losing the game 9-0.
The Panthers jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning with a run and Lourdes hung tough with the Panthers until the 2
nd inning when the Panthers exploded for 5 runs.
Five players finished with multiple hits for the Panthers as Lourdes was only able to scratch out two. It would be a tough day on the mound as well as starter Jim Dunnett surrendered 10 hits giving up 7 earned runs with 2 walks and 1 strikeout.
The Gray Wolves are now 5-20; 0-4 WHAC. Their next home game will be a double header on Wednesday March 28 at 1pm against University of Northwestern Ohio.
