Gray Wolves Sweep Calumet St. Joe's

Gray Wolves Win Two Over Crimson Wave

The Lourdes baseball team won two games against Calumet St. Joseph's today by scores of 6-1 and 4-1.  The Gray Wolves improve to 3-6 on their spring trip and 3-10 overall on the season.

In game one Drew Lepiarz was the story as he pitched a complete game for his first career collegiate win.  The freshmen lefty recorded nine strikeouts and allowed just one hit and one run.  The Gray Wolves scored three runs in the first to give them an early cushion.  Phil Dysard started off the game with a walk.  He was moved up to second on a sack bunt by Garrett Jex.  Austin Gunn would follow with a base hit up the middle to put runners at the corners.  Clean up hitter Andy Kefalos would bring both runners home with a triple to right center, he would later score on an error on a Jake Conklin grounder.  Lourdes added another run in the second after Nick Mazgay and Dysard each recorded singles to put runner at the corners again.  They would execute a double steal and Mazgay would score the fourth run of the game for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves would add insurance runs in the fifth and sixth for the 6-1 final.  Dysard tallied two singles and a stolen base for Lourdes.  Mazgay added two hits and two runs scored.  Kefalos had a big game at the plate with a triple, two singles and two RBI's.

In game two Lee Lovejoy also went the distance on the mound to record his first career win.  Lovejoy struck out four and did not walk a batter.  After allowing one run in the first he would settle down and allow just 5 hits on the game.  The Gray Wolves scored two run in the bottom half of the first to give Lovejoy the lead he needed.  Dysard once again got the offense going with a double down the left field line.  He would come into score on an Austin Gunn single.  Gunn later scored on a Jake Conklin single.  The Gray Wolves added two more runs in the third as Gunn was hit by the pitch to start the inning.  Kefalols followed with a single up the middle.  Patrick Magat singled home Gunn and Conklin brought home Kefalos on a sacrifice fly to right.  That would be all that Lovejoy needed as he cruised for the win.  Kefalos continued to stay hot singling twice, Magat went 3x3 with two singles and a double to lead the offense.

Lourdes will conclude their spring trip tomorrow morning as they take on Olivet Nazarene starting at 9am in Winter Haven, FL.
