SYLVANIA, OH – Lourdes University wraps up day two of double header action versus Concordia University. The Gray Wolves drop both games of the day with scores of 1-6 and 3-11.
Game One - Offensively, Lourdes struggled at the plate today, only going 5-for-31, with Austin Gunn and Jake Conklin getting each getting 2 hits. In the top of the 3
rd, Austin Gunn had left line double and would score on a Jake Conklin left field single to tie up the game. Nick Mazgay would also contribute with a hit and Patrick Magat would have the game's only rbi.
Defensively, the Gray Wolves would look strong, catching four Concordia base runners stealing, in the 1
st, 3
rd, 4
th and 5
th innings. It would not be enough to stop Concordia though, who gained 3 runs in the 3
rd inning and 2 runs in the 4
th.
Lourdes finished the game with 1 runs on 5 hits and 1 error. Concordia had 6 runs on 9 hits and 1 error. Concordia goes to 8-11 in the WHAC and 18-23 overall, while Lourdes falls to 1-16 in the WHAC and 8-33 overall.
Game Two – The Gray Wolves were swinging and connecting more in the second game of the double header. Going 8-for-29, the Gray Wolves were only able to score 3 runs though, dropping the second game on the day. Tyler Trame would go 2-for-3 on the day with Jake Conklin, Garrett Jex, Andy Kefalos, Phil Dysard, Marty Hall and Nick Mazgay also having a hit each.
While the game would start close for the first 2 innings, Concordia would start bagging some runs in the top of the 3
rd and would continue to score in every inning after. Concordia would have 11 runs on 14 hits and no errors, with Lourdes going 3 runs on 8 hits and 3 errors.
Lourdes wraps up with 1-17 in the WHAC and 8-34 overall. Concordia is now 9-11 in the WHAC and 19-23 overall.
Lourdes will head to University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) on Wednesday, April 18 for some double header action in Lima, OH. Lourdes last home series at Mercy Field will be Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 18.
