The Lourdes University baseball team struggled on Friday afternoon hosting the Warriors of Indiana Tech at Mercy Field on Baseball Appreciation Day. The Gray Wolves fell in both games losing the first game 15-2 and the second game 6-1.
Lourdes struggled in Game 1 losing 15-2. The Warriors of Indiana Tech were just to powerful all around finishing with 15 runs on 9 hits while committoing 0 errors. For Lourdes they managed 2 runs on 5 hits and committed two errors.
Lourdes finished with five different players getting hits including Austin Gunn, Jake Conklin, Patrick Magat, Tyler Trame and Nick Mazgay.
Frank Shaffer suffered the loss going 2.2 innings giving up 9 earned runs on 8 hits. Frank finished with 1 strikeout and 3 walks issued.
Brandon Elger pitched well for the Warriors getting his 7
th win of the season pitching 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits, 0 walks and 4 strikeouts.
Game 2 went the way of the Warriors on Friday afternoon as well with Indiana Tech winning 6-0. Lourdes was in the game until the bottom of the 6
th inning when the Warriors tacked on 3 insurance runs for the defeat.
Lee Lovejoy went 5 innings on the mound for Lourdes giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits 1 strikeout and 5 walks. Tyler Snoke of Indiana Tech went all 7 innings giving up just 1 unearned run that Lourdes scratched out in the top of the 7
th inning. Snoke finished with 3 strike outs and 2 walks.
Lourdes managed just 3 hits in the game from Tyler Trame, Mark Oehlers and Nick Mazgay.
Lourdes falls to 8-43 overall and 1-25 in the WHAC. Indiana Tech secures the #1 seed in the WHAC Tournament with an overall record of 35-18 and 20-6 in the WHAC.
Lourdes is scheduled to play Indiana Tech on Saturday at 1pm for a doubleheader. Stay tuned though as weather conditions will deter ate overnight and put the game in jeopardy.
