Box Score 2 Lourdes University recorded its first four-game Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference sweep in program history with 6-2 and 6-4 victories over Cornerstone on Monday afternoon at DeWitt Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.
They Gray Wolves have also won four in a row overall for the first time in school history and have now won eight of their last 13 games, with two of the setbacks coming in extra innings.
Cornerstone struck first in the opener with a fun in the second inning before Lourdes erupted for four runs in the top of the fifth.
Victor Diaz (Medina, Ohio/Cloverleaf H.S.) doubled home
Josh Redies (Saline, Mich./Saline H.S.) to tie the game at one and scored himself on a wild pitch to put the Gray Wolves on top.
Nick Toth (Medina, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) added a two-run home run in the inning to increase the lead to 4-1.
Redies added to Lourdes lead in the sixth with a run-scoring single that plated
Marty Ramirez (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.). After the Golden Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth, the Gray Wolves scored their final run in the ninth after
John Crooks (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills H.S.) singled with one out and later scored on a wild pitch.

Cole Fitzgerald (Rome, N.Y./Centerville [Ohio] H.S.), and Redies each had two hits to lead Lourdes 12-hit attack.
Frank Shaffer (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) earned the win (3-2), allowing just two runs and six hits in 5.2 innings of work.
Jon Knapp suffered the loss (3-4) for Cornerstone, giving up four runs and six hits in 4.1 innings on the hill.
Crooks jump-started the offense early for Lourdes in game two with a solo home run in the top of the first inning.
Cornerstone (14-22, 3-16 WHAC) responded with two runs in the fourth to take the lead. Lourdes tied the game in the fifth, taking advantage of a Golden Eagle error, but the hosts answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to rebuild a 3-2 lead.
Redies singled home
Andy Kefalos (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) with another unearned run in the sixth to tie the game. The Gray Wolves took the lead in the seventh with three more runs, all of which were unearned. Kefalos had a run-scoring double and Fitzgerald added a RBI triple in the inning, giving Lourdes what proved to be insurance runs.
The Golden Eagles plated one run in the seventh but left the tying runs on bases in the bottom of the inning as
Matt Olsavsky (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) earned his fourth save of the year.
Sean Koerber (Grosse Pointe, Mich./North H.S.) earned his first victory of the year (1-5) with a scoreless inning of relief while Brandon Willard suffered the loss (1-2).
Kefalos was the only Gray Wolf with a multi-hit effort in game two as Lourdes tallied seven total hits.
Lourdes (12-24, 9-16) will begin its final homestand of the season on Wednesday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Northwestern Ohio. First pitch in game one is set for 2 p.m. at Mercy Field.
