Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes plays three midweek non-conference games this week before opening Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play this weekend.  The Gray Wolves travel to Taylor for a Tuesday afternoon twinbill before entertaining Hillsdale under the lights on Wednesday.  Lourdes heads north to Adrian, Mich. on Saturday and Sunday for a four-game WHAC set against Siena Heights.

Head Coach Andy Ham: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Andy Ham has a 41-106-1 (.280) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a head baseball coach, Ham has a 66-153-1 (.302) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Lee Lovejoy (RHP, 0-1, 3.60) will be handed the baseball in game one on Tuesday against Taylor while Nate Snow (RHP, 0-0, 5.79) will toe the rubber in the second game of the twinbill.  A.J. Schraffenberger (RHP, 0-0, 0.00) will take the mound on Wednesday against Hillsdale while Frank Shaffer (RHP, 0-2, 16.20) and Drew Lepiarz (RHP, 1-1, 3.60) are the probables to start Saturday's twinbill against Siena Heights. Lovejoy and Snow are then expected to return to the hill on Sunday for the second twinbill against the Saints.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Taylor are 1-1 against one another all-time, having split a twinbill to open the 2013 season on Feb. 14 in Upland, Ind.  The Gray Wolves are 1-0 against Hillsdale, having defeated the Chargers in the lone meeting 7-5 on April 8, 2014 at Mercy Field.  Siena Heights holds an 8-4 series edge against Lourdes dating back to April 5, 2012.  Last year the two schools split their four-game series at Mercy Field.  In the only previous meeting in Adrian, Mich., Lourdes and Siena Heights split a doubleheader on March 30, 2013.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the season on Wednesday dropping both ends of a doubleheader at #4 Missouri Baptist 14-1 and 12-0.  The two schools met again on Thursday with the Spartans sweeping another twinbill 6-0 and 4-3.  On Friday Bluffton spoiled Lourdes home opener with a 3-2 victory at Mercy Field.  The Gray Wolves found the win column for the first time on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from Cleary.  Lourdes won both games by the same 3-2 score in eight innings.  Cleary won Sunday's first game 8-3 before the Gray Wolves posted the series win with a 6-2 triumph in the finale.

Scouting Taylor: The Trojans have won four straight games following a doubleheader sweep of Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday.  Lincoln Reed leads Taylor batting .405 with 12 runs batted in.  The Trojan pitching staff has posted a 4.60 earned run average thus far this year while opponents are hitting just .246 against the hurlers.

Scouting Hillsdale: The Chargers snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over Trevecca Nazarene in the second game of a doubleheader.  Connor Bartlett leads Hillsdale with a .357 batting average while Luke Ortel has a team-leading eight runs batted in.  The pitching staff has posted a 6.45 ERA and opponents have batted .321 against the Chargers.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the week having won two straight games following a doubleheader sweep at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.  Siena Heights hosts Madonna on Wednesday before entertaining the Gray Wolves this weekend.  Zach Dunlop is batting a team-leading .417 while Freddy Jehle is hitting at a .405 clip.  Joe Williams has a team-high eight runs batted in.  The pitching staff has posted a 5.54 ERA and opponents are hitting .298 against them.

Lourdes in WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 0-3 all-time in WHAC openers heading into this year's conference opener at Siena Heights on Saturday.  The Gray Wolves fell 6-1 to Davenport in 2012 and 10-1 to Aquinas in 2013 at home.  Last year, Lourdes dropped a 17-8 decision at Davenport to begin league play.

Bonus Baseball: Lourdes picked up a pair of extra inning victories this past weekend against Cleary, something the Gray Wolves were unable to accomplish in 2014.  Lourdes went 0-3 in extra innings last year.  The team's last extra inning win had been against Bethel (Ind.) on March , 2013, a 4-3 10-inning triumph.

Solid Starts: Aside from the season opener, Lourdes starting pitchers have allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of the last eight games.  A.J. Schraffenberger may have had the team's best start to date, tossing five shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out seven against Bluffton.

Streaking: Andy Kefalos enters the week with a six-game hitting streak.  Beginning with the second game of Thursday's twinbill at Missouri Baptist, Kefalos is batting .421 with a .579 slugging percentage. He has eight hits in 19 at bats while driving home four runs.  Bill Laranga has reached base safely in seven straight games entering this week's play as well.

New Addition to the WHAC: The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has expanded from nine to 10 teams in baseball for the 2015 season.  Marygrove began playing baseball this season, and will be Lourdes final opponent of the year, with the Gray Wolves traveling there April 30-May 1.

This and That: Marty Ramirez has reached base in six straight games ... Nick Toth leads the team batting .320 and has a team-high three doubles ... Toth has the only three-hit game of the season for the Gray Wolves ... Drew Lepiarz has struck out 12 hitters in his first 10 innings pitched ... Nate Snow has the team's lone multi-RBI game, driving in two against Cleary in the final game Sunday.
