#23 Lourdes Heads to #4 Grove City on Saturday

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes continues its seven-game road trip to open the season on Saturday afternoon with the Gray Wolves' third consecutive contest against a ranked foe.  Lourdes will battle fourth-ranked Grove City in the team's final tune-up before CCLA South Division play begins next week.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has an 12-5 (.706) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Grove City won the first meeting between the two schools 12-8 on April 12, 2014 at Central Catholic High School.  The Wolverines led 6-1 at halftime before Lourdes tied the game at seven early in the fourth quarter only to see Grove City score five of the final six tallies.  Andrew DiMartini led Lourdes with four goals in the loss.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes traveled to Elon, N.C. for a pair of top-20 matchups over spring break.  The Gray Wolves suffered a 19-12 setback at eight-ranked Elon on March 7.  Jared Yoshino scored six times and added five assists in the loss for Lourdes.  The Gray Wolves were within a goal with five minutes to play on March 9 before falling 15-10 to 17th-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic.

Scouting Grove City: The Wolverines remain undefeated on the season after downing Palm Beach Atlantic 12-11 on March 7.  Grove City also played at Elon the night before, recording a 7-4 win.  David Hall leads the Wolverines with 10 goals on the season and 13 total points while Daniel Casselli also has 13 points on five goals and eight assists.  Benjamin Dumm sports a 7.67 goals against average in the cage, while posting a .652 save percentage.

Lourdes 23rd This Week: Lourdes dropped three spots to 23rd in the latest MCLA Division II poll (week four).  The Gray Wolves were ranked 18th in the preseason poll, the highest ranking for Lourdes this season.  Lourdes was ranked 19th in weeks one and two and dropped to 20th last week.

Looking for a Ranked Victory: Lourdes is 0-5 all-time against teams ranked in the MCLA Division II top-25 poll, which marks the only five losses in program history.  All three of the Gray Wolves setbacks last year came against teams ranked in the top-six in the nation (#1 Dayton, #5 Grand Valley State, #6 Grove City).  This season Lourdes has faced #8 Elon and #17 Palm Beach Atlantic.  This week the Gray Wolves will face #4 Grove City.

Spreading the Wealth: Through the first three games of the season, Lourdes has had 10 different goal scorers.  Dalton Vowles and Jared Yoshino lead the way with nine goals each while Dylan Gill has found the back of the cage eight times.

Yoshino Tallies 11 Points: Jared Yoshino had six goals and five assists in the game against Elon, totalling 11 points for the night.  The performance is the second best in school history, behind his own school mark of 12 set last season against Michigan-Dearborn.

Rotating in Goal: Conner Mishler has played a majority of the minutes in goal this season, sporting a 10.86 goals against average and a .548 save percentage for he Gray Wolves.  Jake Brown and Joe Hollinger have also seen time between the posts during the first three games, and as a unit Lourdes sports a 12.33 goals against average and a .519 save mark.

This and That: Jared Yoshino now has 104 career points (47 goals, 57 assists) ... the Gray Wolves have won just 37-of-84 faceoffs this year ... Bryce Foulk (vs. Palm Beach Atlantic) and Matt Ofner (at Elon) scored their first collegiate goals in North Carolina ... Lourdes has 26 assists on 43 goals ... the Gray Wolves open CCLA Central play next Wednesday when Lourdes travels to Michigan-Dearborn.
