Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The 2024 regular season comes to a close for Lourdes men's lacrosse this week with the Gray Wolves in search of a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament berth. Lourdes wraps up the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday afternoon hosting Siena Heights at Ottawa Hills High School before traveling to Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Head Coach Will Lowe: In his first season on the Lourdes bench,
Will Lowe has a 4-6 (.400) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Lowe is in his fifth season as a collegiate head coach, sporting a 26-29 (.473) career mark. He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Siena Heights holds an 8-4 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that dates back to March 26, 2014. The Saints have won the last three meetings against the Gray Wolves after scoring an 11-8 triumph in Adrian, Mich. last season. The series is tied 1-1 all-time in Lourdes home games. Lawrence Tech leads the all-time series against the Gray Wolves 6-5 dating back to April 2, 2014. The Blue Devils have won five straight meetings between the two schools after posting a 17-6 win at Wildcat Stadium last season. Lawrence Tech is 3-1 against Lourdes in Southfield, Mich.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Last Wednesday, sixth-ranked Concordia (Mich.) used runs of 15-0 and 12-0 to spearhead a 31-4 victory over Lourdes.
Xander Slate made nine saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while
Tim Weaver made six stops. On Saturday,
Caden Louthan scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Lourdes celebrated Senior Day with an 11-10 victory over Taylor. Louthan and
Hayden Barber each had three goals while Slate made 13 stops in the cage.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have dropped two straight games after a 13-10 defeat at Aquinas on Saturday. Eric Csizmadia leads Siena Heights with 37 goals and 51 points this season. Devin Plemmons has handed out a team-high 26 assists while adding 45 points. In the cage, Jakob Moske has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 14.23 goals against average and a .488 save percentage.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils enter the week having lost back-to-back games after a 15-10 loss to Aquinas last Wednesday. Lawrence Tech travels in Indiana Tech on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Grady Holmes has a team-high 37 goals and 53 points this year while Ryan Pastorino has dished out 20 assists to go along with 32 points. In goal, Jarret Willershausen sports a 15.76 GAA and a .454 save percentage this season.
Looking for a WHAC Tournament Berth: Lourdes enters the final week of the season in search of a berth in next week's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament. The top six teams qualify for postseason and Gray Wolves begin the week one game out of the three-way tie for fifth through seventh places, but face two of the teams just ahead of them in the standings.
An OT Win: Lourdes improved to 4-6 all-time in games in which the Gray Wolves have played overtime with the victory over Taylor. The Gray Wolves last overtime win prior to Saturday was a 6-5 triumph on March 8, 2018 at Cumberlands (Ky.).
On the All-Time Lists: Caden Louthan has moved into seventh place on the Gray Wolves' career goals list, passing Chad Causley (2018-2022) on the all-time list with 60 tallies. In addition, Louthan's 92 total points are eighth in program history.
Leading the Offense: Kalani Hale and
Caden Louthan have paced the offense thus far this season. Louthan has a team-leading 32 total points, including a team-best 13 assists. Hale has scored a team-high 24 goals and has 29 total points.
Hayden Barber and
Garrett Boersma both have double figure goal totals as well with 14 and 10 respectively.
