Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes begins CCLA Central play this week with a pair of divisional contests. The Gray Wolves are looking to close out the month of March on a positive note after suffering a three-game losing streak heading into the week. Lourdes will head to Lawrence Tech on Wednesday before traveling to Michigan-Dearborn for Saturday's matinee.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has an 12-6 (.667) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 2-0 all-time against Lawrence Tech in a series that dates back to April 2, 2014. The Gray Wolves posted an 18-8 victory in the first meeting last season before downing the Blue Devils 16-9 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action. Lourdes won the only previous meeting against Michigan-Dearborn, downing the Wolverines 20-6 on March 16, 2014 at Detroit Country Day School.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind 9-1 after the opening quarter of action and was unable to recover on Saturday afternoon, falling to fourth-ranked Grove City 17-5.Â
Dalton Vowles was the lone multi-goal scorer for the Gray Wolves, scoring twice in the loss.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils saw their two-game winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 21-5 loss to Siena Heights. Tim Popp leads Lawrence Tech in scoring with 10 goals and 17 total points while Tristan Burkhard and Bryan Burnham each have 11 points. In goal, Adam Gohl sports a 11.33 goals against average and a .585 save percentage for the Blue Devils.
Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have won four straight games following a season-opening loss, most recently defeating Lewis 20-0 on Sunday afternoon. Dylan Hatcher leads the way for Michigan-Dearborn with 18 goals and 24 total points while Ruben Cabello also has 24 points, including 15 assists. In the cage, David Stephanoff has a 4.00 goals against average and a .692 save percentage on the year.
Lourdes Falls Out of Rankings: After spending four straight weeks in the MCLA top-25 rankings, Lourdes fell out of the poll this week (week five). The Gray Wolves still received 62 poll points and were the first team listed in others receiving votes. Â
CCLA Opener: Lourdes is 1-0 all-time in divisional openers after being awarded a forfeit win against Carnegie Melon in the 2014 CCLA South Division opener. Â
Divisional Realignment: After playing the CCLA South Division last season with Carnegie Melon, Dayton, and Grove City, the CCLA realigned itself prior to 2015 and Lourdes moved the CCLA Central Division. This year the Gray Wolves are with divisional foes Lawrence Tech, Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland, and Siena Heights.
Vowles Takes over Scoring Lead: Dalton Vowles scored twice against Grove City to take the team's goal scoring lead outright with 11 tallies this year. Jarad Yoshino, who has 10 goals, leads the team with 26 total points after handing out 16 assists thus far.
This and That: Lourdes only six losses in program history have come to top-25 programs ... 25 different players have seen action for the Gray Wolves this season.
