Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After a week off, Lourdes returns to the field for a key CCLA Central Division game on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves face Siena Heights. The game also serves as the third place contest in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 14-6 (.700) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 1-0 all-time against Siena Heights. The Gray Wolves won the lone previous meeting between the two schools 11-2 on March 26, 2014 in Adrian, Mich.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Danny Bichsel's goal with 6:24 remaining proved to be the game-winner on Wednesday night as Lourdes defeated Lawrence Tech 13-12. Bichsel scored seven times in the game for Lourdes while
Dalton Vowles added five goals and an assist. On Saturday afternoon, Bichsel tallied nine goals as Lourdes wont back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 19-13 triumph at Michigan-Dearborn.Â
Jared Yoshino added five goals and four assists for the Gray Wolves.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints remained unbeaten on the season after scoring a pair of victories last weekend in Davenport, Iowa. Siena Heights downed Missouri State 11-1 and Missouri Baptist 8-6. Tom Kreitzer leads the Saints with 16 goals while Shane Lewandowski and Dan Orr have 14 goals each. Orr also has 21 assists for a team-leading 21 points. In goal, Ryan Mailloux sports a 4.857 goals against average and a .699 save percentage logging a majority of the minutes for Siena Heights.
Lourdes Falls Out of Rankings: After spending the first straight weeks in the MCLA top-25 rankings, Lourdes fell out of the poll last week. The Gray Wolves received 23 poll points this week (week 6) and were the first team listed in others receiving votes. Â
Bichsel Earns WHAC Honors: Danny Bichsel was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career after scoring 16 goals and adding four assists in two wins last week. Bichsel tallied seven goals and two ground balls against Lawrence Tech before scoring nine times to go along with four assists and five ground balls in the triumph over Michigan-Dearborn.
Hollinger Steady in Goal: Joe Hollinger earned back-to-back wins in the cage for the Gray Wolves after making 17 saves against Lawrence Tech and 14 stops against Michigan-Dearborn. He sports a .529 save percentage on the season. Â
Divisional Realignment: After playing the CCLA South Division last season with Carnegie Melon, Dayton, and Grove City, the CCLA realigned itself prior to 2015 and Lourdes moved the CCLA Central Division. This year the Gray Wolves are with divisional foes Lawrence Tech, Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland, and Siena Heights.
Road Trip Winding Down: Saturday's game will be the seventh consecutive game to start the season that the Gray Wolves have played on the road. Lourdes will finally play at home next Saturday, April 11, as the Gray Wolves host Dayton at Central Catholic High School.
