Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: With the midway point of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season having passed on Sunday, Lourdes looks to build momentum heading into the second half with six big league games on the slate this week.  The Gray Wolves travel to Indiana Tech for a midweek twinbill on Wednesday before entertaining Madonna in a four-game weekend series.

Head Coach Andy Ham: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Andy Ham has a 47-124-1 (.276) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a head baseball coach, Ham has a 72-172-1 (.296) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Bill Laranga (RHP, 0-0, 0.00) is scheduled to start game one of Wednesday's doubleheader at Indiana Tech while the game two starter has yet to be determined.  On Saturday, Frank Shaffer (RHP, 0-5, 8.18) and Matt Olsavsky (RHP, 0-2, 4.50) are scheduled to make the starts to open the Madonna series.  Drew Lepiarz (LHP, 2-3, 2.42) is slated to take the hill to start game one on Sunday while A.J. Schraffenberger (LHP, 1-1, 3.48) will close out the Madonna series.

Series Notes: Indiana Tech is 14-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 27, 2012.  The Warriors swept a doubleheader from the Gray Wolves at Mercy Field earlier this season on March 25 with 13-4 and 8-1 victories.  Lourdes is 0-4 all-time in Fort Wayne.  Madonna is 10-1 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began March 31, 2012.  Last year the Crusaders won three of four from the Gray Wolves in Livonia, Mich.  Madonna won the only three previous meeting at Mercy Field back in 2013.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped a pair of low-scoring games on Wednesday to Rochester (Mich.), falling 4-2 and 1-0 at Mercy Field.  On Saturday, Concordia (Mich.) posted a pair of walk-off victories against the Gray Wolves, scoring 3-2 and 5-4 wins.  Concordia won Sunday's opener 2-0 as well before Lourdes managed a 6-2 victory in the nightcap.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have dropped 11 of their last 12 games after being swept in a doubleheader by #2 Davenport on Sunday afternoon.  Romer Portes leads Indiana Tech offensively batting .374 with nine home runs and 39 runs batted in.  As a team the Warriors are hitting just .258.  The pitching staff sports a 5.45 earned run average and opponents are hitting .304 against them.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the week having won four straight games after sweeping last weekend's series against Aquinas.  Madonna travels to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before heading to Lourdes this weekend.  Ryan Lambrecht leads the Crusaders batting .367 this season while Taylor Grzelakowski is hitting .352 with a team-leading 35 runs batted in.  As a team Madonna is batting .300 while the pitching staff sports a 3.19 earned run average and opponents are hitting just .230 against them.

Scheduling Changes: The Gray Wolves are travelling to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for a doubleheader against Indiana Tech instead of playing them at Mercy Field.  The change is a result of the Warriors visiting Mercy Field for a twinbill on March 25 instead.  The Gray Wolves are making up the March 31 doubleheader against Grace next Tuesday, April 21, in a 2 p.m. start.  Lourdes has also added a single game at Hillsdale to the schedule on April 29.

Solid Starting Pitching: Lourdes starting pitchers have been outstanding in their 12 starts during the month of April, but have just one win to show for it.  As a team the Gray Wolves are 4-8 in April with the starters figuring in just five decisions.  As a starting unit, the hurlers have posted a 3.49 earned run average in 69.2 innings with hitters batting just .249 against them.

Kefalos Gets on Base: Andy Kefalos enters the week having reached base in 16 consecutive games and has reached base safely in 27 of his last 28 games after starting the season 0-for-9 at the plate.  The senior also enters the week with an eight-game hitting streak, one behind Nick Toth's nine game streak earlier this season for the team's longest of the year.  Kefalos is hitting .282 with 10 runs batted in on the year.

Jex Provides a Spark: Garrett Jex has led off an inning 20 times this season, having reached base on 13 of the occasions.  The Gray Wolf catcher is the lone Lourdes hitter with more than 10 leadoff at bats to have reached more than 50% of the time.  Jex has been producing over his last 14 games dating back to  March 25, hitting .316 during the span with a .500 on base percentage.

Finishing What They Started: Drew Lepiarz and A.J. Schraffenberger both tossed complete games on Sunday at Concordia (Mich.).  For Lepiarz, who leads the team with a 2.42 ERA and a .190 opponents batting average, it was his second complete game of the year.  For Schraffenberger, on the other hand, it was his first collegiate complete game with the Gray Wolves.

A Slow Start: Lourdes has been outscored 32-5 in the opening inning this season.  The Gray Wolves are 0-11 when allowing a first inning run this season.  However, in the four games Lourdes has plated a run in the first, they have won all four contests.

This and That: Nick Toth leads Lourdes hitting .310 while also driving home a team-leading 12 runs ... Bill Laranga has been hit by 11 pitches ... Lourdes is 3-0 in extra-inning games this season ... Nate Snow and Nick Toth are the lone Gray Wolves with two multi-RBI games ... Toth also has three three-hit games.
