Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes wraps up the home portion of its 2015 schedule this week with four doubleheaders at Mercy Field.  The Gray Wolves welcome Grace to town on Tuesday for a non-conference twinbill before entertaining Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon.  Lourdes faces Cornerstone in a key four-game weekend series beginning Friday afternoon.

Head Coach Andy Ham: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Andy Ham has a 47-124-1 (.276) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a head baseball coach, Ham has a 72-178-1 (.289) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Josh Payzant (RHP, 0-0, 10.0) will make his first start of the season in the opener against Grace while Zack Zsolcsak (RHP, 1-2, 9.00) is slated to pitch game two.  In Wednesday's twinbill, Bill Laranga (RHP, 0-0, 2.70) and Lee Lovejoy (RHP, 0-3, 9.00) are slated to be handed the baseball against Northwestern Ohio.  On Friday, Drew Lepiarz (LHP, 2-4, 2.56) and A.J. Schraffenberger (LHP, 1-2, 3.96) are scheduled to make the starts to open the Cornerstone series.  Frank Shaffer (RHP, 0-6, 7.55) is slated to take the hill to start game one on Saturday while Matt Olsavsky (RHP, 0-3, 4.06) will close out the Cornerstone series.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Grace will be meeting on the baseball diamond for the first time Tuesday evening.  Northwestern Ohio holds an 10-2 all-time series advantage dating back to March 28, 2012.  The Racers and Gray Wolves split the first two meetings this season in Lima, Ohio with Northwestern Ohio winning the opener 2-0 before Lourdes rebounded for a 6-3 win in game two.  The Racers hold a 6-0 series edge at Mercy Field.  Lourdes is 6-2 all-time against Cornerstone dating back to April 5, 2013.  Last season the Gray Wolves swept a four-game series in Grand Rapids, Mich.  The two schools have split the four previous meetings at Mercy Field.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell 9-8 and 9-2 at Indiana Tech on Wednesday afternoon to close a six-game road trip.  The Gray Wolves began their current 12-game homestand on Friday suffering a pair of defeats 5-1 and 4-0 to Madonna.  The Crusaders then completed the weekend sweep of Lourdes on Saturday with 7-0 and 2-1 wins.

Scouting Grace: The Lancers snapped a seven-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a game two victory at Spring Arbor.  Frank Rocchio leads Grace batting .412 on the season with a team-high 24 runs batted in.  As a squad, the Lancers are hitting .277 while the pitching staff has posted a 6.27 earned run average and opponents are hitting .311 against them.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have won six of their last seven games after a doubleheader sweep at #2 Davenport on Sunday afternoon.  Jose Cruz leads Northwestern Ohio batting .443 with seven home runs and 4 runs batted in while Zyler Cosby is hitting at a .420 clip.  As a team UNOH is hitting .342 while the pitching staff has posted a 3.29 ERA and opponents are hitting .253 against them.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have dropped four of their last six games after splitting a doubleheader against Concordia (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon.  Cornerstone hosts Aquinas on Wednesday before traveling to Lourdes.  Sonny Mastromatteo is batting .323 for Cornerstone while the Golden Eagles are hitting .266 as a team.  The pitching staff has posted a 4.78 earned run average and opponents are batting .276 against them.

Scheduling Changes: The Gray Wolves are making up the March 31 doubleheader against Grace on Tuesday in a 2 p.m. start.  Lourdes has also added a single game at Hillsdale to the schedule on April 29.

Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor 11 seniors on Saturday as part of the final home doubleheader against Cornerstone.  Andy Kefalos, Sean Koerber, Drew Lepiarz, Lee Lovejoy, Nick Mazgay, Josh Payzant, Sean Shanks, Frank Shaffer, Tyler Trame, Kyle Vandecaveye, and Ryan Veres will all be making their final appearances at Mercy Field this week.

Looking for a Tournament Berth: Lourdes needs some success this week if the Gray Wolves have hopes of qualifying for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament May 4-6.  The top six teams qualify for the postseason event and Lourdes is currently ninth in the standings.  The Gray Wolves have four games left against eighth place Cornerstone and 10th place Marygrove as well as two games against first place Northwestern Ohio.

Jex Starting to Streak: Garrett Jex has reached base in 11 consecutive games for the Gray Wolves, matching the second longest streak on the team this season.  The redshirt-junior has hit safely in a season's best four straight games as well, and has raised his average up to .281 while posting a team-best .429 on base percentage.

This and That: Opponents are batting just .188 against Drew Lepiarz in 52.2 innings of work ... Lourdes is 1-8 against top-25 opponents this season ... Andy Kefalos is slugging a team-high .368 with 10 doubles on the season.
