Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Having split three straight doubleheaders, Lourdes steps out of conference play on Wednesday afternoon to host Rochester (Mich.) after the Warriors field has been deemed unplayable.  The Gray Wolves return to WHAC action this weekend for a key four-game series at Concordia (Mich.).

Head Coach Andy Ham: In his fourth season on the Lourdes bench, Andy Ham has a 46-119-1 (.280) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his sixth season overall as a head baseball coach, Ham has a 71-167-1 (.299) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Zack Zsolcsak (RHP, 1-1, 8.31) and Bill Laranga (0-0, 0.00) are tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday's doubleheader against Rochester (Mich.).  On Saturday, Frank Shaffer (RHP, 0-5, 10.04) and Matt Olsavsky (RHP, 0-2, 5.50) are scheduled to make the starts to open the Concordia (Mich.) series.  Drew Lepiarz (LHP, 2-2, 2.45) is slated to take the hill to start game one on Sunday while A.J. Schraffenberger (LHP, 0-1, 3.75) will close out the Concordia series.

Series Notes: Rochester is 5-2 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to March 18, 2012.  The Warriors are 4-1 against the Gray Wolves at Mercy Field.  Last season, Rochester won the series at Lourdes, taking the opener 6-3 and the finale 5-4.  The Gray Wolves won the middle game of the set 1-0.  Concordia is 7-4-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to April 13, 2012.  Lourdes is 2-1-1 against Concordia at Cardinal Field however.  Last season the two teams split a four-game series at Mercy Field.  The Gray Wolves won the first doubleheader 5-4 and 8-3 before Concordia won both games on day two 9-2 and 5-1.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Four Northwestern Ohio hurlers combined on a three-hitter in the opener on Wednesday as the Racers defeated Lourdes 2-0.  The Gray Wolves rebounded in game two with six early runs and upset 23rd-ranked UNOH 6-3 to earn a split.  Lourdes scored six times in the bottom of the eighth in game one on Saturday, downing Aquinas 12-8 before the Saints won the nightcap 7-2.  Aquinas scored three times in the top of the ninth on Monday to win game one of the twinbill 4-3 before Lourdes answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings before defeating the Saints 4-3 in nine innings in game two.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors have dropped three of their last four games after falling 15-5 at Northwood last Wednesday.  Rochester travels to Cornerstone on Tuesday afternoon before heading to Lourdes.  Blake German leads the Warriors batting .346 while Brandon Duprius is hitting .339 with 12 runs batted in.  As a team Rochester is batting .273 while the pitching staff sports a 6.58 earned run average and opponents are batting .316 against them.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having won five straight games following a doubleheader sweep at Cleary on Monday afternoon.  Concordia hosts Marygrove for a twinbill on Wednesday before Lourdes visits Ann Arbor.  Jeremy Maas leads Concordia batting .311 on the season while Wes Vaughn is hitting at a .309 clip with 15 runs batted in.  As a team the Cardinals are hitting .248 while the pitching staff has posted a 5.20 ERA and opponents are hitting .276 against the hurlers.

Scheduling Changes: Wednesday's game against Rochester (Mich.) has been moved from Rochester Hills, Mich. to Mercy Field due to field conditions at Bill Shinsky Field.  In addition, the Gray Wolves will now travel to Fort Wayne on April 15 for a doubleheader against Indiana Tech instead of playing them at Mercy Field.  The change is a result of the Warriors visiting Mercy Field for a twinbill on March 25 instead.  Lourdes has also added a single game at Hillsdale to the schedule on April 29.  The Gray Wolves are still looking to make up the doubleheader with Grace which was postponed as well, but that date has not been confirmed.

Knocking off a Ranked Opponent: Lourdes entered last week 1-17 all-time against top-25 teams.  The Gray Wolves won their second game ever against a ranked foe though on Wednesday, knocking off 23rd-ranked Northwestern Ohio 6-3 in game two of the doubleheader.

Kefalos Gets on Base: Andy Kefalos enters the week having reached base in 10 consecutive games, nine of which have come via hit.  The senior also had an 11-game on base streak earlier this season, and has reached base safely in 21 of his last 22 games after starting the season 0-for-9 at the plate.  Kefalos is hitting .274 with 10 runs batted in on the year.

Solid Starting Pitching: Lourdes starting pitchers have yielded three runs or less in five of their last six outings.  Drew Lepiarz is the only starting hurler to earn a victory on the season though, having posted a 2-2 record with a 2.45 ERA.

Looking for Hits: Lourdes has only outhit its opponents on four occasions this season, but the Gray Wolves have won all four games.  In fact, the 14-hit attack in the opener of the Aquinas series is the only game in which Lourdes has tallied a double figure hit total.

This and That: Nick Toth leads Lourdes hitting .348 while also driving home a team-leading 11 runs ... the Gray Wolves enter the week just two games behind Siena Heights in the standings for sixth place approaching the midway point in league play ... the top six teams in the WHAC qualify for the conference tournament.
