Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After a week off, Lourdes opens the home portion of the 2015 season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves welcome seventh-ranked Dayton to town. The game will be played at Central Catholic High School.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 14-7 (.667) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 0-1 all-time against Dayton. The Gray Wolves fell to the top-ranked Flyers 16-15 in Dayton in the only previous meeting, which was played on April 9, 2014.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Siena Heights broke open a 4-4 tie with six of the next seven goals last Saturday afternoon as the 17th-ranked Saints defeated Lourdes 16-9 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference third place game played in Grand Rapids, Mich.Â
Danny Bichsel led Lourdes with four goals while
Dalton Vowles added a goal and two assists.Â
Joe Hollinger made 15 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves in the loss.
Scouting Dayton: The Flyers have dropped back-to-back games to North Dakota State and Saint John's (N.Y.) after opening the season 6-0. Sean Dolan and Adam Henlein share the team lead with 13 goals each, with Dolan adding 10 assists for a team-leading 23 points. Cody Topp has added 11 goals while David Carlos has a team-high 13 assists and is second on the team with 20 total points. In goal, Andrew Kramer has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 6.00 goals against average and a .638 save percentage.
Lourdes Just Outside of Rankings: After spending the first five weeks of the season in the MCLA top-25 rankings, Lourdes fell out of the poll last week in week six. The Gray Wolves received 18 poll points this week (week 7) and was the second team listed in others receiving votes. Â
Lourdes in Home Openers: Lourdes was awarded a forfeit victory in the team's home opener in 2014 after Carnegie Melon was unable to field a team. In the Gray Wolves' first contested game at home, Lourdes earned a 22-0 victory over Northwood (Mich.) in a game played at Ottawa Hills High School.
Bichsel Takes over Scoring Lead: Danny Bichsel has taken over the team's goal-scoring lead despite missing three games this season. The junior has tallied 21 goals in his four contests in 2015, and now has 76 goals in 17 career games. Â
Hollinger Steady in Goal: Joe Hollinger has made at least 14 saves in each of the Gray Wolves last three games. The senior netminder now sports a 13.62 goals against average on the season while posting a team-best .519 save percentage. Hollinger has logged more than two-thirds of the team's minutes in goal.
Divisional Realignment: After playing the CCLA South Division last season with Carnegie Melon, Dayton, and Grove City, the CCLA realigned itself prior to 2015 and Lourdes moved the CCLA Central Division. This year the Gray Wolves are with divisional foes Lawrence Tech, Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland, and Siena Heights.
