Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes wraps up the non-conference portion of its 2015 schedule this week with a pair of matches. The Gray Wolves will travel to Cincinnati Christian on Wednesday evening before returning home on Saturday to battle Cleary.
Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his first season on the Lourdes bench,
Barry Spitzer has a 1-1 (.500) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
On the Air: Saturday's match against Cleary will be broadcast on BCSN on Buckeye Cablesystem. The game will be shown on BCSN at 11 p.m. on Saturday night. In addition, BCSN2 will show the game Sunday morning at 3 a.m.
Series Notes: As will be a common theme for the Gray Wolves this season, Lourdes will be meeting both Cincinnati Christian and Cleary on the soccer pitch for the first time.
Scouting Cincinnati Christian: The Eagles will be opening their 2015 season on Wednesday when they battle Lourdes. Cincinnati Christian posted an 8-11 record overall in 2014 and a 0-4 mark in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Eagles return 11 players for this season, including the team's top scorer from one year ago, Tanner Cox. Cox tallied six goals and added two assists while Tyler Moen returns after tallying 12 points with six goals. Brian McDowell played a majority of minutes in goal for Cincinnati Christian, and returns for his sophomore season after sporting a 2.88 goals against average and a .720 save percentage.
Scouting Cleary: The Cougars have dropped four of five to open the season, with all four setbacks coming via shutout against WHAC foes. Cleary's lone victory was a 16-0 triumph against Great Lakes Christian. Sean Holmes, Danilo Malacic, and Jordan Veiga all have three goals on the year for the Cougars. Blair Moore has played every minute in goal for Cleary, sporting a 2.4 goals against average.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes built a 3-1 lead over Walsh late in the first half before the Cavaliers rallied and scored the match-winner with just 3:39 left to spoil the Gray Wolves' home opener with a 4-3 win.Â
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet scored twice while
Judah Goodridge also added a goal for Lourdes.Â
Mark Darling made three saves between the posts in the loss.
Early Scoring Lead: Jake Kirchoff-Sleet has taken the team's early scoring lead with two more goals on Saturday against Walsh. He also found the back of the goal and added an assist in the opener at Grace Bible, and has seven total points on the year.
Goodridge a Three-Point Effort: Judah Goodridge became the third different Gray Wolf to tally three or more points in the match with his goal and an assist in the home opener against Walsh. He assisted on Kirchoff-Sleet's first goal before making it 2-1 Lourdes with his first collegiate tally midway through the first half.
Scoring Quick: Lourdes needed just 1:24 to find the back of the net in the home opener against Walsh, as
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet christened Wildcat Stadium. The Gray Wolves needed just 11:10 in the opener at Grace Bible to find the back of the goal as well.
Controlling the Opening Stanza: Lourdes has outshot its opponents 23-6 in the first half through the first two matches in program history. The Gray Wolves had a 12-4 advantage last Saturday after outshooting Grace Bible 11-2 in the opening 45 minutes of the season opener.

Jake Kirchoff-Sleet have been named team captains for the inaugural 2015 season.
