Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: The 2016 men's soccer season comes to an end this week as Lourdes plays a pair of matches looking to move back over the .500 mark for the campaign. The Gray Wolves close out the home slate on Wednesday entertaining Michigan-Dearborn before wrapping up the year on Saturday afternoon with a road match at Concordia (Mich.).
Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his second season on the Lourdes bench,
Barry Spitzer has a 13-14-3 (.483) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 1-0 all-time against Michigan-Dearborn, having defeated the Wolverines 3-0 on Oct. 3, 2015 in Brighton, Mich.Â
Adilson Darosa put the Gray Wolves in front midway through the first half while
Tyrell Chambers and
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet added second half tallies.Â
Jose Cedillo made seven saves to earn the shutout. Lourdes holds a 1-0 series edge against Concordia (Mich.), having defeated the Cardinals 3-0 in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Oct. 14, 2015.Â
Aaron Davis scored the first goal midway through the opening stanza while Kirchoff-Sleet added a tally just before halftime.Â
Carlos Viganoni added a goal with just 3:07 remaining in the match.Â

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped a narrow 1-0 decision to Cornerstone last Wednesday at Wildcat Stadium as the Golden Eagles scored with just over 31 minutes to play in the match.Â
Jose Cedillo made seven saves in the setback. On Saturday, Lawrence Tech notched the match-winner with 8:12 to play, topping Lourdes 3-2.Â
Judah Goodridge and
Kevin Omore each found the back of the net for the Gray Wolves. On Monday, the Gray Wolves made up a previously postponed match at Indiana Tech, falling 4-2 to the Warriors.Â
Carlos Viganoni and
Isamnia Cohen each scored for Lourdes in the loss.
Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have dropped four straight matches after suffering an 8-1 loss at fourth-ranked Davenport on Saturday afternoon. Richard Hodnicki leads Michigan-Dearborn in scoring, having notched five goals and 11 total points. Jeffrey Drzyzga is the only other Wolverine to have tallied more than three points, having registered four. Scott Dunford leads the team with three assists. In goal, Dylon Da Silva has played the most minutes for the Wolverines, carrying a 3.32 goals against average and a .678 save percentage. Tristan Johnson has played just 75 fewer minutes than Da Silva and has a 3.20 GAA and a .636 save percentage.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having dropped seven straight matches after falling 1-0 at Madonna on Saturday. Concordia heads to Marygrove on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Alex Vrzovski leads Concordia with 29 total points this season, having scored 13 times while adding three assists. Joshua Posuniak, the team's assist leader with four, ranks second on the squad with 10 points. In goal, Marino Moraccini has played all but 28 minutes, sporting a 2.26 goals against average and a .746 save percentage.
Thanks Seniors: Lourdes has three seniors who are closing out their careers this week.Â
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet has appeared in 30 matches, making 29 starts during his two years with the Gray Wolves.Â
Sam Miller has appeared in 22 contests, making 12 starts at Lourdes while
Carlos Viganoni closes his career having seen the pitch 30 times, 27 of which have come in a starting role.
Record-Breaking Season: Lourdes has set several team records this season, and is near breaking others. The Gray Wolves have tallied 61 goals, bettering last year's mark of 24, and has handed out 39 assists, 21 more than the 2015 record of 18. In addition, the 161 total points more than double last year's mark of 77. Lourdes has taken 289 total shot attempts, bettering last year's mark of 224, and the Gray Wolves are five saves shy of matching last year's total of 66 stops in goal.
Individual Season Marks: Jake Kirchoff-Sleet has shattered all of the school's scoring marks from last year, which he also set. He has scored 13 goals, bettering last year's total of eight, has six assists, two more than 2015, and has tallied 32 total points, ahead of last year's 20.Â
Jose Cedillo has played the most minutes ever in goal (959:33), 303 more than his total last year, and has made 48 saves, 11 more than last year's record. Â
Solid Opening 45 Minutes: Lourdes has played a solid first half all season long, outscoring the opposition 35-9 and outshooting teams 146-79 during the opening 45 minutes of matches. The Gray Wolves have trailed at halftime just twice all season.
Among the NAIA Leaders: Lourdes ranks among the top of the NAIA as a team in numerous statistical categories. The Gray Wolves lead the country in goals per match (4.36) while ranking fourth with 61 total goals. The Gray Wolves' 10.86 shots on goal per match rank fifth nationally while Lourdes is eighth in the country in both shots per match (20.79) and assists per match (2.79). The team's 39 total assists are the 14th highest total nationally. Team Captain: Jake Kirchoff-Sleet is the Gray Wolves' lone captain for the 2016 season. The Lourdes senior is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.
