Jimmy Johns Field - Utica, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes wraps up the fall portion of the season this weekend as the Gray Wolves head to Marygrove for a three-game series.  Lourdes is still looking for its first win of the season, and looks to head into the offseason on a high note.

Head Coach Jeremy Snow: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Jeremy Snow has a 15-42 (.263) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the second head coach in Lourdes program's history, and interim tag removed from his title during the offseason.

Probable Starters: Matt York (RHP, 0-2, 4.70) is slated to take the hill for Lourdes to open the series in game one of the doubleheader against Marygrove.  Kolby Rogge (RHP, 0-2, 7.00) will be handed the ball in game two of Saturday's twinbill.  Ben Richard (RHP, 0-0, 4.50) will make his first collegiate start in the series finale on Sunday.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds the all-time series against Marygrove 5-3 dating back to May 1, 2015.  Last season the Gray Wolves won three of the four games against the Mustangs at Mercy Field.  The teams split the opening twinbill with Lourdes winning the opener 3-0 before the Mustangs won game two 24-5.  The Gray Wolves then swept the second doubleheader 10-0 and 6-4.  The two teams split the first series played at Marygrove in 2015, which was actually held on Madonna's campus.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes was swept in a three-game series to open the home campaign last weekend against Indiana Tech.  The Warriors took the opener 6-1, limiting the Gray Wolves to just five hits.  Noah Childress went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.  In game one of Sunday's doubleheader, Indiana Tech jumped out to a 10-0 lead on the way to a 13-3 victory.  Mike Vomastek drove home a pair of runs while Jordan Wilke scored twice for Lourdes.  In the series finale, the Warriors again built an early lead, 8-0, and defeated the Gray Wolves 11-4.  Devin Stanley went 2-for-5 with two RBI for the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Marygrove: The Mustangs enter the final weekend of fall play following a series split at Aquinas last Sunday, falling 5-4 in the opener before defeating the Saints 4-3 in 11 innings in game two.  The third game of the series was cancelled due to weather.  Jared Walters leads Marygrove's offense batting .467 while Daniel Dayfield is hitting .368 for a team batting .277 as a squad.  Raleigh Wilson has driven home a team-high seven runs.  The pitching staff sports a 5.18 earned run average on the year and opponents are batting .291 against the Mustangs.  Reed Banner leads the way with a 1-0 record and a 1.38 ERA, making two starts and throwing 13.0 total innings.

Game Time Changes: The series this weekend against Marygrove has seen its start time moved up to noon both Saturday and Sunday.  The games were originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. each day.

Stanley Has Big Doubleheader: Devin Stanley went 3-for-7 in Sunday's doubleheader for the Gray Wolves, and now leads the team batting .429 on the season.  He had a pinch hit single in game one of Sunday's doubleheader to break up Indiana Tech's no hitter before tallying a pair of hits, including a double, and driving in two runs in the nightcap.

Pinch Hitters Come Through: Lourdes is batting .455 (5-for-11) in pinch hitting situations this season, in part due to a solid weekend against Indiana Tech coming off of the bench.  Devin Stanley, Jordan Wilke, and Kyle Sherman all had pinch hit singles in the opener of the twinbill, with Sherman's driving home a run.  Dallas Riggs added a pinch hit in game two, as did Zach Brown who delivered with a RBI single.

Trio Feasting on Lefties: Glen Crabtree, George Pastor, and Dallas Riggs all have had success against left-handed hurlers this season.  Crabtree is 2-for-2, Pastor is 2-for-3, and Riggs is 2-for-5 as the trio has accounted for six of Lourdes' 11 hits against southpaws.

Throwing Runners Out: Dan Johnson has thrown out six potential base stealers already this season in 15 attempts, good for a 40% clip.  So far this year, the Gray Wolf catchers have gunned down 35.3% of would-be thefts after connecting on just 24.4% one year ago.

Offense Still Missing: Lourdes struggled offensively during the 2016 season, as the Gray Wolves batted just .224 as a team in 2016 while scoring just 144 runs (2.8 per game).  Over the first six games this year, the Gray Wolves have hit just .196 while crossing home plate just 10 times (1.7 per game).

A New Look to the WHAC: The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has several new looks as the new season begins.  For the first time ever, fall baseball has come to the WHAC.  Each member school will play three regular season three-game series which will count toward the year-end record.  In addition, each conference series has been shortened from four games to three this year, but all three contests will be scheduled for nine innings.  Finally, there are two new additions to WHAC baseball.  Lawrence Tech is playing baseball on campus for the first time while Rochester (Mich.) joins the conference as an affiliate member for baseball only.

This and That: Noah Childress has two of Lourdes' seven extra base hits this season, all doubles ... the Gray Wolves are batting just .140 (6-for-43) with runners in scoring position this season ... Jordan Wilke and Devin Stanley are the only players that have currently hit in consecutive games ... George Pastor has the team's only multi-hit game.
