Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: For the second straight weekend Lourdes heads to Kentucky to participate in a weekend event, as the Gray Wolves take part in the Union College Classic Friday and Saturday.  Lourdes faces host Union on Friday before battling 24th-ranked Milligan on Saturday afternoon.

Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her first season on the Lourdes bench Summer Quesenberry has a 0-3 (.000) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 53-71 (.427) record in her fifth season.  She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes has never met Union (Ky.) or Milligan on the hardwood in women's basketball.  In fact, the Gray Wolves have never played any team from the Appalachian Athletic Conference, where both opponents reside, in women's basketball.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves fell behind 14-2 after the opening quarter and was unable to recover on Friday evening, dropping a 68-51 contest to Cumberlands to begin play in the Habitat for Humanity Classic.  Daja Whiteside led Lourdes with 16 points, the only Gray Wolf to finish in double figures.  On Saturday, Lourdes shot just 28.1% from the floor and fell to host Georgetown (Ky.) 87-52.  Elayna Ackerman led the Gray Wolves with 16 points while Daja Whiteside added 13 points and 11 boards.

Scouting Union (Ky.): The Bulldogs have opened their season with a pair of victories, the most recent coming at Warren Wilson, 85-75, on Nov. 2.  Maci Spence leads Union, averaging a double-double at 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.  Brianna Adler adds 14.0 points per night for a Bulldog team scoring 80.0 points per game.

Scouting Milligan: The Buffaloes are still looking for their first win of the season after falling 88-62 at Columbia (Mo.) last Saturday.  Hayley Wyrick and Sarah Robinson led Milligan in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game each.  The Buffaloes face Bethel (Ind.) on Friday before battling Lourdes in the final day of the Union College Classic.

Bench Support: Elayna Ackerman came off the bench last weekend for her first two appearances of the year, and immediately made an impact.  The freshman grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in 27 minutes against Cumberlands before following that performance up with a team-high 16 points and four steals versus Georgetown (Ky.).  Ackerman is averaging 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest this season, marks that rank second and third respectively on the team.

Whiteside Registers First Collegiate Double-Double: Daja Whiteside had her first double-double as a Gray Wolf on Saturday at Georgetown (Ky.), scoring 13 points while grabbing 11 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end of the floor.  The double-double was the third this year for Lourdes, as both Taylor Geib and Jesse Fidler registered one in the season opener against Midway.

Facing Ranked Opponents: Lourdes has battled 27 nationally-ranked foes during the first five year's of the program's existence, having just one victory to show for the efforts.  The Gray Wolves downed #18 Indiana-Northwest 79-75 on Nov. 5, 2011, but since have dropped 25 straight games to ranked opponents.

Thompson Closing in on 400 Career Points:  Molea Thompson made her season debut last weekend in the two games at the Habitat for Humanity Classic, scoring five points over the two contests.  She now has 391 career points, just nine shy of 400 early in her junior season.

Enck Leads Team in Assists: Samantha Enck has handed out a team-high eight assists thus far this season.  She led the Gray Wolves with three helpers on Saturday against Georgetown (Ky.).  Enck has accounted for nearly 31% of the team's assists this season.

Blocking Shots: Taylor Geib has blocked six shots already this season, a total that ranks 15th among all NAIA Division II players.  Her 2.0 blocks per contest rank 12th nationally.  Geib had five rejections last Friday in the setback to Cumberlands.

Getting to the Offensive Glass: Daja Whiteside is fourth in the NAIA grabbing 5.0 offensive rebounds per game.  In fact, 15 of Whiteside's 21 total caroms have come on the offensive end of the floor, including nine last Saturday against Georgetown (Ky.).

Lourdes Tabbed 10th in Preseason Poll: The Gray Wolves were selected to finish in 10th place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  Lourdes was picked just ahead of Michigan-Dearborn, and just behind Aquinas.  Davenport was tabbed as the conference's preseason favorite for 2016-2017 after winning the conference title 10 straight seasons.

Captains Named: Lourdes has a trio of captains heading into the 2016-2017 season.  Jesse Fidler is serving as a captain for her second straight season while Sara Pribonic and Andrea Hodge are in their first year in the leadership role.

This and That: All eight Gray Wolves that have seen action this season are averaging at least 16 minutes per contest ... Rachel Losey scored a career-high nine points against Cumberlands .... following the classic, Lourdes will open WHAC play on Wednesday night at Aquinas.
