Lourdes Set to Tangle with Indiana Tech in CCLA Quarters

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes begins postseason play on Friday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host a CCLA tournament game for the first time in program history.  Lourdes welcomes Indiana Tech to Wildcat Stadium in a rematch of a WHAC contest from March 23.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has a 27-12 (.692) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 1-0 series advantage over Indiana Tech, defeating the Warriors 14-13 at Wildcat Stadium on March 23 of this season.  Jared  Yoshino scored four times for Lourdes while Dalton Vowles found the back of the cage three times.  Jace Childs paced Indiana Tech with four goals in the first meeting between the two schools.
 
Wrapping Up Last Week: Dalton Vowles scored eight times, Danny Bichsel added five goals and four assists, and Jared Yoshino tallied four goals and five helpers as Lourdes defeated Lawrence Tech 21-14 on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Wildcat Stadium.  Conner Mishler made 13 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves in the victory.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the tournament having dropped two straight games after falling 19-4 at Grand Valley State on Saturday in the team's regular season finale.  Jace Childs leads Indiana Tech having scored 42 goals and 17 assists for 59 total points while William McKinney has added 28 tallies.  Brian Nichter has tallied a team-high 21 assists for the Warriors.  In goal, Joseph Dosen has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 12.43 goals against average and a .446 save percentage.

The CCLA Tournament: The winner of the Lourdes-Indiana Tech game will face the winner of the Siena Heights-Lawrence Tech game in the CCLA semifinals next Friday in Pittsburgh.  The other semifinal will feature the winner of the Grove City-Grand Valley State contest against the winner of Aquinas and Dayton.  The CCLA championship is slated for Saturday, April 30.

A Record-Setting Season: Both Dalton Vowles and Danny Bichsel have broken the school's single season goal scoring record.  Vowles has 58 tallies and Bichsel has 57, surpassing the old mark of 55 set by Bichsel in 2014.  In addition, Vowles' 89 points have broken Jared Yoshino's 2014 mark of 80 to set a new school record.  Yoshino has also broken his own single season assist record, having recorded 45 helpers this year, better than his 42 he registered during the 2014 campaign.  Conner Mishler has set a new school mark with 172 saves in goal, breaking Joe Hollinger's 2015 mark of 120.

Career Marks: Danny Bichsel heads into the postseason as Lourdes' all-time leading goal scorer.  The senior has found the back of the cage 141 times.  Jared Yoshino has handed out 121 all-time assists, most in Gray Wolf history.  Yoshino also has the most points in school history, having registered 225 in three seasons.

Solid in Goal: Conner Mishler has played all 843 minutes and 33 seconds in goal for the Gray Wolves this year.  He sports an 8.96 goals against average, just above his single season record of 8.71 set in 2014, and a .577 save percentage, a mark which is on pace to set a new school record.

In the Rankings: Lourdes is a member of both the NAIA and MCLA in men's lacrosse.  The Gray Wolves are ranked fifth nationally in NAIA, where they are members of the WHAC.  In addition, they rank 11th in MCLA Division II as members of the CCLA.

This and That: Nic Mueller and Marty Gospodarski have combined to win 60% of the faceoffs that they have taken ... Jay Fisher and Casey Hilfinger have collected 69 and 57 groundballs respectively ... Lourdes has tallied 30 man-up goals on the year ... the Gray Wolves are a perfect 5-0 at home this season.
